  1. 186,365K kms for me me. Over and out... Just sold the car today so this will be my last post. Mixed feelings..... owned the car since 19K kms and have enjoyed every minute. A bit of a heads up for other blokes on here with cars with a fair few clicks on the clock - the arse has well and truly fallen out of the second hand market... don't expect much when you sell!

  3. Well, it's been a couple of weeks and the noise hasn't repeated once. Is it possible there was a temporary obstruction in the BOV?
  4. No noise when engine is turned off.Boost leak is a possibility but surely it would howl every time it boosted? Same with bent fin or bearing problems... I don't know enough about bovs to be sure but can they get stuck - ie not open enough and create different noises?
  5. What are bearing harmonics? The reason I was thinking BOV is because it sort of sounds like the whirring/whining whooshing noise you hear from ricer cars when they are changing gears. I sh*t you not though - I could have sworn it was a cop siren in the distance behind me when it first happened!!
  6. Hi Guys - been getting a strange noise from what I think is the turbo. First time it happened I shat myself because I was giving it a bootful on a freeway on ramp and it sounded like a police siren! I thought it might be the BOV because it happened when I was backing off the loud pedal. It doesn't happen all the time and the car is otherwise running normally and boostin well. Today it happened under about 75% throttle. I backed off and then gave it a bootful but it didn't repeat the sound. Car has done 175K kms

It's not as bad as you might think although definitely not something to do when you're in a hurry...Because you strop it before each shave the blade is as sharp as it can be unlike disposable blades which are sharp for the first shave or two then feel dull. Also - who doesn't like the idea of owning a quality piece of machinery and using and maintaining it well! If it was all about just 'getting the job done' we would all be driving to work in hyundais....

  9. Yep - I was getting pinging on my BF (stock apart from tune) until I changed the fuel filter. I cut it open and it didn't appear to be too bad but I didn't recognise the brand. Can't remember now but it wasn't ryco or motorcraft- anyhoo, filter changed, ping gone, me happy.
  10. Yep John, I was about 5 mins away from doing that myself. What I thought would be a nice little potter around today checking the exhaust manifold bolts and turbo bolts turned into a PITA due to the fact I was missing a turbo to manifold bolt (under the turbo of course). Anyhoo, glad it's done but not looking forward to doing it again!

  13. I have the same problem - should the knock sensor be picking it up and retarding the ignition? Also, why are no trouble codes being registered?
  14. If the engine is pinging would it throw up an error code that can be read by the xcal3 box? Also, can I use the data logging to look at what the knock sensor is doing?
  15. I have Expensive Daewoo mates who swear that Wheels/Motor are totally Ford biased.... Bear in mind that Motor magazine rates the XR6T a 9/10 and 'surely the world's best value sports sedan' in the cars guide section at the back. Another thing I noticed was the difference in terminal speed over the 400m: 163.7kmh for the beemer 169.2kmh for the G6ET 160.7 for the Lexus. Would this indicate a traction issue for the G6ET?

  17. its on the front. the zf tranny seems to be doing funny things now though - not shifting up past third. Co-incidence?
  18. I'm running 245/40 R18s at the moment. My spare is a 235/45 R17. Will I be able to use this? My understanding is that the outside diameter of the tyres is almost identical despite the 1 inch different wheel size.

  20. The Alpines are 2 way so have Tweeters in them (or so I'm led to believe??). I just cut the two wires coming out of the door which were connected the old speakers and connected them up to the Alpines. Not sure if this is the correct way to do it but the speakers sound good and I have much clearer high frequency sounds (cymbals, bells etc)
  21. For some reason my premium audio was missing the tweeters in the A pillar - not sure why. The Alpines were a straight swap for the stockies.
  22. I've just put in a Rockford Fosgate Punch P1S4 8" Subwoofer. Bolted straight in without any mods. I also dynamatted the rear shelf. Very happy with the results. Massive improvement over stock. While I was at it I also replaced the front speakers with some Alpine Type-S 5x7s. Again, a big improvement. All up, for about $300 (including a sheet of dynamat) the stock premium audio has been transformed into something listenable.
  23. Yes, I did think of that one. The reason I'm asking here is that I don't want to go to every dealer in Perth to ask their best price. Secondly, I'm doing the sums to find out whether I'm going to be better off getting into a new T with a lower interest rate on the loan, better depreciation write off etc. So... as per my original post, I would like to know what ppl are paying for new T's with the mentioned options.
