Stig Unmasked After Bbc Loses Ruling
He will get the arse for a breach of contract, as for him telling his story I can understand why he did it as like everyone else he deserves to ride the success of the show and all the financial benefits that come with it but what he did was a breach of a contract that he signed and agreed to. In the end I dont think it matters who the Stig actually is as its the character he plays which is important, but saying that it was always great and exciting not know who this man or woman was or may be when the new one comes in the next season.

Am I Losing My Mind?
Never had a problem with Nulon, brilliant stuff. After a long trip when I turn off the motor I can hardly hear the turbo spin down. All those other mechanics who say its crap are only trying to sell you something else.

6Spd Zf Busted! What Now?
Sorry to hear about your ordeal Tonyv, it kinda sickening to think people out there can pull this sort of crap and seem to get away with it. I think alot of trust is put into these people and especially when large sums of money is involved you expect to get what you pay for and if you dont every means should be taken to fix it but unfortunately alot of places dont take this simple business practice and will happily take your money and run. that's what so great about this forum especially one like this who's member base is rather varse in a rather small segment the modified car scene (unlike say imports) so the knowledge base is rather tight and in the most case no two ways about something. That also comes to tuners and other services where there are very reputable businesses and everyone else is seen with suspicion until proven which is great because spend enough time on here and you get to know the big names and what to expect. Sorry about the long winded rant but I think some good can come out of this. Hopefully your ZF gets fixed up and you get your money back. Good luck buddy.

Shut Holden, Ford And Toyota, Says Suzuki
ok, what an idiot I think they are just trying to push their new car models by dissing its competition

Garrett Turbo
Honestly I wouldn't bother swapping the turbo on the BA-BF as its good for a stupid amount of power, I think about 400rwkw or something. I would just sell it.

6Spd Zf Busted! What Now?
Could clunk in the high gears be due to a shagged diff bush? Because mine will clunk when in 6th and down shifting on the freeway but the noise comes from the rear of the car.

Xr6T Servicing - Need Advice
If You have not had a service in a while id suggest the following: Replace plugs boost solenoid lube Replace oil for fully synthetic 10w40 or 15w40, Nulon is a great product. Check pipeing tighten exhaust bolts Get rid of turbo oil filter (optional) Check bushes and suspension that's really about it, but the key to long life in these cars are frequent oil changes (5000 to 7500km) with a good oil, and frequent piping checks and solenoid lube.

Turbo Noise
Stock it shouldnt be pinging and if its really loud and constant I doubt it would be as your engine would probably be bye bye by now. Just make sure you run 98ron fuel.
-
Which 98 Octane And Why?
Yeah ive heard that too, but any little extra insurance against ping is a good thing. Might try it out and get a tune to suit.
-
Turbo Noise
Has the car got a tune? Its not pinging I hope? Its hard to say as it jould be a number of things, I know that it can make a flapping sound if there is an exhaust leak, loud rattling sound im not sure about. Maybe take it to a reputable tuner and see what they say. Where abouts are you?

Which 98 Octane And Why?
Mobil 98 or BP ultimate, might give the united 100 a shot, there is a united which sells it close by.

Rough Idle At Startup
Hi all, have had this problem for a little while now, and im not sure what would be causing it. When I start the car after not driving it for a day or so it will be particularly rough for about 20 seconds then it will be fine after about a minute. I have the 60lb injectors and also gapped plugs at 0.8mm which I did myself. My question is does the combination of higher flow injectors and smaller gapped plugs on a dead cold engine be the culprit or would it most likely be a leak in the exhaust somewhere. Ive checked all my induction pipeing and all seems to be tight. Once the engine is warm it is fine. Thanks

Zf 6-speed Auto Problems
I think its also how you use it as well, if you constantly push the car you can expect it to fail sooner as well. Mine has 270rwkw which isnt much but a big increase over stock and I drive usually quite sensibly with one track day and the box has not faulted once. The car has done 110,000k's and have had the tune for a year almost.

Zf 6-speed Auto Problems
Remember that these things start to go after the power output is raised significantly especially the extra torque. like anything mechanical you put too much load on it and it will break. Its a terrific box but I reckon people need to really consider upgrades on the trans if they are pumping out 100rwkw+ extra from stock, which is a heap when you think about it.

I saw a Black Fg xr6 parked at the side of the road and I nearly creamed myself! Im not sure what id rather in terms of shape but the FG is getting nothing but praise. I thinks its a more grown up look but I still think that the BF still looks modern, its got a meaner presence than the FG... Except for the F6 of course

Fair enough mate I wasn't trying to stereotype you so no hard feelings either, what I was getting at was that a. You wont be able to drive it legally (not in most states anyway), b. a race track is different to a public road and c. You have a nice car which is fairly rare so strapping a turbo on it will not make it go up in value. You probably have far better skills than I do, I dont debate that but the coppers who are pulling you over and defecting your car and fineing you for driving a turboed car wont give a damn. So sorry if it sounded like I was bursting your bubble. BTW im only 25 so do what I did, have a semi powerful P plater car then once you get on your full licence go for gold and buy your turboed monster, that way everyone is happy.
-
Brock Falcon
Nice car buddy but argg it kinda annoys me when kids post on here "this is my car I wanna turbo it, how do I do that", firstly maybe learn to drive first secondly you wont be able to drive it until your off your p's and thirdly turboing something isnt as easy as it looks. It will cost about 7-10 grand to do it properly and even then if its done on your stock motor you will be running it on borrowed time. Im glad that your keen and this site will provide you with everything you need but someone had to say it.

Bad Shuddering From Engine
agreed, coils is your best bet

Ba Xr6 Turbo
hmm I can understand that if it works the same way the TC works on the VT based commodores. It was horrible. DSC is much better.
-
Does It Require A Tune If . . . .
I dont think so, they would have to mega anal to void you warranty for that.
-
Ba Xr6 Turbo
I think it turns it off, honestly why bother turning it off permanently? I know the BA traction control isnt the best but it shouldnt matter if your driving the car normally, unless your mate constantly drives like an idiot.

Car Surging When Cold
Never quite understood the term surge as alot of people use it to describe different things, what happens exactly? Does the engine struggle to hold revs when idling when cold? This maybe due to a number of things, mostly a leak somewhere in the intake or exhaust. A stock setup should not be struggling but when you have bigger injectors or small gapped plugs it may run a little rough at startup ive heard. Sounds like you have done everything which is usually told to look at. It may also be your transmission if the car is getting no power when cold between 1500-2000rpm. Not 100 percent sure but hope that helped a little.
-
Just Replaced Turbo
go on ya! What happened to your original turbo? 2000 dollars is not bad either!

Steering/Control Issues!
Doesnt sound good mate, yeah I wouldn't drive till you get it fixed. Have no idea what it could be though.

What Is This... Pic
I take that thing out every time I wanna take the plastic cover off because its easier to pull out than taking the tube off it. I dont think you will have any problem just putting it back in as I think it just sits inside the rocker cover between a rubber ring. Judging by the pic it doesnt look like you have busted anything. I suppose just make sure gunk doesn't get down there.
