Popping Noise And Lost Of Power
Check your spark plugs. I had a similar popping/missing sound a while back and a change of plugs fixed it. My T is modified but I assume the same issue can occur with a stock car. Good luck!

Ip Home Telephone
I signed up for the iiNet ADSL2+ service last month. I highly recommend it. I also recommend getting the Belkin 4 port wireless router as it has the ability to fail over to the PSTN line when the VOIP is down for whatever reason. I have it hooked up at the moment using one of those cordless phones (have 3 cordless phones hanging off it). When a call is made from any phone in the house it uses VOIP if it is available, if not, it automatically uses the PSTN line. The phone rings when calls are received on both VOIP and PSTN. So, in other words you only need one phone. The quality of the calls in my opinion is great (it actually seems clearer than the PSTN line). Sure you have to still pay the line rental but the calls are damn cheap. Not to mention the super fast internet access

Hsvs Vs Xr6t
I had a very interesting encounter with a HSV Coupe 4 a few months back. This thing sounded awesome. I'm not sure what it had done to it but it sounded modified and I could see he was in the mood, as when he hit the accelerator the back end started to come out each time. I thought to myself, looks like he is interested I managed to pull up beside him, pumped the accelerator, gave him the blow off a few times, usual turbo stuff We had a clear road in front. I was in 1st doing about 20-30kph (4spd auto) and we both hit it. He jumped ahead initially by just under half a car, but when the turbo got going I was slowly passing him. Once I hit 2nd gear I was about 2 cars in front, and then see ya later. Literally left him and pulling away Mine is not stock though but neither was his. I have an APS Phase 2 + I/C pumping out 310rwkws. The funny thing was though the very next day I found that this guys car was in carsales.com. Had the same plates. I knew it was modified, and the ad said that it was supercharged and had spent over $40k on it. Made me quite happy indeed I wonder if he put it up for sale after the kill and will end up buying a XR6T or a Typhoon Cheers Rob

Digital Tv Easy Solution
True enough hahaha I was just mentioning it so that people don't go out and buy the adapter/converter if it doesn't work straight out of the box.
-
Digital Tv Easy Solution
I was under the impression (when reading through the long thread on digital tv) that the output of the digital set top box being used was an interlaced signal (via SCART), I.e. the Ford ICC takes a RGB+Sync NTSC interlaced signal. If this is the case, then the converter that you mention above will not work. Can anyone confirm this? Or at least put me in my place

Scan Tools Revisited
I would also like to know this. Further to this, is it possible to obtain the actual format of the data that is output via the OBDII port for the XR6T (I assume each car is different)? This is probably proprietary Ford information though. I am asking, as I am a software engineer and would like to experiment with writing some software to decode the information and display it. Taking it further would be to display it on the Premium screen I recall that someone on this forum has already started doing this, but have not heard any updates on it for a while. How is it going? Cheers Rob

Question
Yes, the spare is a Dunlop SP9000 and it is to be placed on the left side of the car. It is OK to put a directional tyre on the wrong side just not for long and don't do anything silly. My front left tyre developed a bulge in it and the spare came in handy. Obviously since it was on the correct side of the car, I could drive it as per normal. I recommend to anyone to option the spare alloy.

Autometer Nexus Gauges
Mick, I am very interested in this setup and also the oil pressure guage as well. How much for the guages and can I walk into any Ford dealership and get the Typhoon pod?

Brakes
I am very happy with the Premium brakes! They are awesome. I have over 300rwkws and they stop extremely well when they are called upon Well worth the extra $$$ But, you do pay a premium when they need replacing too. I had mine replaced at 37500kms, and it cost me $650/rotor (fronts) and $220/pad. that's what price my dealer quoted me, not sure if I could have got the exact same factory rotors for cheaper else where. Apparently, its normal that they last 35k-40k kms. Not sure if its an issue with you but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Folding@home Etc
I run SETI and Climate Prediction at home. I started doing SETI about 3 yrs or so ago. My mate put me onto it and we raced our computers by overclocking them hahaha Doesn't matter what it is, its all about the speed Maybe we should start our own XR6 Turbo team

Std Injectors Over 240 Rwkw
Oops!! I clicked on 280-320rwkws. Then I read the question again. I'm not using standard injectors. If a mod can remove my vote it will be a more accurate poll. Sorry!!

Premium Brakes - Rotors
Hmmmm. You mean you can get the premium rotors for around half the price I was quoted? Genuine factory ones? If this is the case, I might do some phoning around to several dealers and find out the difference in prices. I would have thought all Ford dealers would charge the same for parts? If this is not so, I will be calling the dealer and asking them what is going on.
-
Premium Brakes - Rotors
Yep, I have heard this from a few people now. I am sure that alot of people do not know this though. Funny how the dealers don't tell you this when you first buy the car

Premium Brakes - Rotors
Hey ppl, I took my car in for a simple oil/filter change & tyre rotation at 37500kms (I like to change to oil between the major services). To my surprise, they called me up to let me know I need new front rotors and pads. Pads fair enough but the rotors too?? Apparently that's how long the premium brake rotors last. At $650 each and $220/pad, its not cheap!! And if this is required every 40k kms or so this is a significant maintenance cost that people should be aware of. Or am I just braking too much I do have the Phase II kit and had it installed at 31k kms. Most of the time I drive the car casually with the odd spirited drive of course Have I been shafted or is this the norm with the premium brakes? Cheers Rob

XR6 Turbo Insurance: Premiums, Insurers & Advice
When I was getting my Phase 2 installed, I called Shannons and they said they would only insure me if it wasn't a daily driver. Is yours a daily driver? Currently, I am paying $1800/mth and I have the APS Phase 2 kit installed. I have insurance through the people that Esanda (I have a novated lease through them) use. I wasn't sure if they would accept modifications especially when it is under a novated lease, but I told them upfront, and they said if its legal and the insurance company has no problem I'm fine. Cheers Rob

Wider Wheels
Hmmmm.... very tempting How are the Nankangs? I am particular about the tyres I put on the car. I think tyres are extremely important and worth spending the extra to get some good grip tyres. If I don't upgrade to bigger tyres, I will probably get the factory standard Dunlop SP9000's (I know they are like $500 each). They have lasted me 35000kms so far, only a little left in them, say another 1 to 2k kms.
-
Wider Wheels
that's great! What rims are they? And more importantly, what kind of rubber did they come with? Did you trade your 17" rims with Tempe Tyres direct? Can you tell us what you got for them? (Damn, that's alot of questions ) I was hoping to stay away from 19's only for the fact that the rubber obviously costs more.
-
Wider Wheels
Did you get new rims as well? If so, how wide are they? Cheers Rob
-
Wider Wheels
Hey people, I will be up for a new set of tyres soon, but with my added Phase 2 power I would like to have more traction Is it possible to widen the standard Ford rim (to say 9.5"), or is this not safe to do? I have 18s. The other option is to just buy a wider wheel I guess. I would like to fit 275/40 18s on the rear. Cheers Rob

Aps Upgrades
When my T was standard, the range to empty was always reporting too low (as it should). Now that I have fitted a Phase 2 kit, it seems that the range to empty is now almost exactly correct. The trip computer of course is way out. Mine reads around 10L/100kms when its actually around 15L/100kms.

Traffic light "encounters"
Maybe its just the fear of getting caught! My previous car was an FTO and within 3 months my licence was suspended as I was caught dragging someone off the lights. Cops pulled us both over! I am a lot more "careful" these days, but it is hard to resist the odd encounter every now and then. I think people do respect the T more now than when it first came out. Each time I go up against someone and even when I'm in front, we pull up next to each other, and give each other the thumbs up! Cheers Rob
