  1. thanx Senna, Ill be happy wtih a number starting with 18. im annoyed though, just went back to the dealer and a different salesman says I cant put a deposit on a demo. Im keen to be able to back out of the deal coz the Mrs hasnt sold her Kluger and weve said were waiting on the sale to occur sunday. Annoyingly as I was walking around the dealers I was standing on a median strip and a salesman in a nearby yard called out to me - talk about desperate, I wasnt even on his premises! Now I know what girls feel like when they get hit on by desperate losers. Today's salesman virtually tried to tell me a Dec07 build is really Jan 08 coz its compliance plate says 08 - sorry, it was built in Japan in 2007. Im sure he wouldnt let me do the same to him if I was trying to sell a used car back to him or trade one in. He also reckons the margin on small cars is in the hundreds of dollars. Im not sure if I believe him on that. The nugget also tried to talk down the 100km on it as a demo - hello - its had at least 10 strange arses and paws in it. maybe 40! I expect 1000 off coz its a demo, 1000 off coz its 2007. and maybe 500 coz dealer delivery (1600) is a overpriced crock. Do u reckon that's unreasonable thinking on my part Senna?
  2. Nah, the driveaway price is 20900 like I said at the top, this includes Sduty, dealer delivery, rego, plates and the RRP of 18150.
  3. the full RRP is 20900 for the mazda 2 Neo in auto.
  4. Me and my Mrs are buying a 2nd car to be a fuel miser, the new mazda 2s are the go - cute and well-made. Anyway, 'driveaway' in the ACT the model we are after is $20,900 - how much should we offer for a demonstrator which has done 100km? Im thinking offer 18, they will counter, and hopefully settle on 18500 or 18750. wot do youze reckons eh?
  5. I think those worried about the FG suffering BA-style problems neednt worry. I dont see how Ford Oz will have taken the BF and managed to add the kind of problems BA mkIs had. I bought a MkI and had no dramas, Ford had fixed the disc brake problem which required constant machining in Oct 03, before the release of the MkII.
  6. You crazy! I think the FG looks great. Not totally sold on the FPV versions yet though...
  7. geez, get back on topic. I think the duratec 3.5 is the go coz it will allow Ford Oz to put that in the territory too and that will make it more competitive should oil prices remain high. (lucky our high aussie dollar is protecting us from those prices btw!) Shame Ford Oz couldnt tweak the Geelong 4.0L down to 3.9 and give it an alloy block
  8. Poorly built? Ive been quite happy with the build quality of my T. My only gripes are quite minor, I.e the ugly handbrake area where it joins the dash area and the lack of footwell lights, unlit power window switches. Bang for buck I reckon the BG T will wipe the floor with any euro/jap offering.
  9. XRTPSI, the look will grow on you. Its not a massive exterior departure from current model probably due to the market research Ford Oz have done. I presume theyve done market research and found customers like the BA/BF look and Im guessing a radical departure from that look could be too risky. What kind of styling would u prefer? Id like a sportier look too but I understand that its a generic model that's gotta fill tastes ranging from XT thru the G series into the sporty XRs. Just gimme a white one, let me plonk 19" metallic orange Simmons on it, pump up the power to, say, 320kW and Im happy. I really like how the falcon has only put on 10kg - I feared VE-like weight gains.
  10. Dude, youre mostly wrong and majorly understating the changes. Theyve rejigged the plumbing in the engine bay, added overboot, launch control, fixed heaps of minor niggly things, upped the fuel efficiency and power, tweaked the fuel tank (same size though), only added 10kg in the whole process, possibly gonna land a 5-star crash rating... also revised the door seals location for wind noise reduction, etc Theres probably more things to add to that list. youre a hard man to pls.
  11. Julian Edgar's opinion is sheer waffle taking zero consideration of marketing and the business and timeframes of automotive product delivery. He also rabbits on about fuel economy and compares a $30k full size sedan to a much cheaper corolla - that's not a proper comparo.
  12. I think the big wet up there has affected your brain. What exactly are you expecting? a lambo gallardo like exterior? Im happy with the look. Falcons are always going to be understated, its still using the same floorplan remember. I think it looks better than the BA-BF - I want one! There are heaps of positives about the new falcon. Does only the exterior matter to u?
  13. Has anyone read the ford.com.au website? The PCM now has the programming for 'run on fans' whereby the fans can still run if the engine is turned off and the temps are too high. Banishes the need once and for all for those who like turbo timers.
  14. http://blog.autospeed.com/2008/02/18/the-n...tly-irrelevant/ The new Falcon? Mostly irrelevant… Posted on February 18th, 2008 in Driving Emotion, Ford, Opinion by Julian Edgar Yesterday Ford took the wraps off the new FG Falcon. New Australian developed and built cars come along only very rarely; Ford took the unusual step of releasing the car on a Sunday so that it could gain precious free airtime on the Sunday night TV news and in the Monday papers. Away from my home base, I watched the Sunday night Channel Nine TV news in Adelaide with interest. How breathlessly and non-critically would they report the release of the new car? The report was relatively short but it was what followed that had me gobsmacked. Immediately after the report on the Falcon finished, the Nine news moved straight to a segment on the booming sales of the hybrid Toyota Prius, and the way in which some individuals are now converting their cars to battery electric power. The station interviewed several Sydney electric car enthusiasts and presented a glowing report on the cars. Phrases like ‘fuel economy’, ‘greenhouse gas emissions’ ‘oil consumption’ and ‘cost to run’ sprinkled the report. The juxtaposition couldn’t have been a bigger slap in the face for Ford: even the dimmest viewer could not have missed the implicit comparison. Today, on the Monday after the Falcon’s release, my emailed News.com.au update doesn’t have a single mention of the new Falcon. Imagine how different the news reports would have been if Ford had released a car with breakthrough fuel economy and lower greenhouse gas emissions. A turbo diesel engine, or a downsized six cylinder turbocharged to gain efficiency. Instead we have launch control - and even more power, torque and weight. Oh yes, and a fuel consumption improvement that is nominal to say the least. It’s very hard to believe that the Falcon will not go the way of the Mitsubishi 380 – and for much the same reasons. High quality engineering directed in completely the wrong direction, aiming at a target that started to move a decade ago and has now gone… ********************************* At the end of the article non-members can make posts as I did. 1. This Edgar idiot doesnt realise that Falcon is still in the top 10 of vehicles, it still sells very well! Its % share has gone down over time, but so what, its still in the top 10! 2. Ford are selling what we want! Not what JEdgar wants. If there was a fuel efficient 2.5L 6cyl in the Falcon I wouldnt buy the f*cker! 3. Edgarr is an idiot. 4. The BG XR6T is more fuel effic than the BF. 5. The demise of the 380 will see some of their buyers go to Falcons, Aurions and commodores I reckon. 6. Edgur is an idiot.
  15. I am always greatly amused by those who claim the first release of a new model will contain problems. Well sh*t, lets go all buy AU MKIIIs! Roll on BG!
  16. So far Im impressed: theyve fixed the dodgy parkbrake area with a leather cover factory stereo now supports MP3 CDs driver seat has been lowered a tad car has only put on 10kg! proper lower grill on front revised tacho and speedo so its clearer, less busy much better fuel consumption - 11.7L/100km for the XR6T ***************************** do footwell lights come as standard now? do we have an AUTO up feature for the driver window? is the front seat(s) forward-back mechanism electric yet?
  17. I hope it is branches but I simply dont recall scraping any and why is itthe same area each time??? surely such a scratch would generate some sort of noise? I wont rule this out...but I'll be buggered if I can figure it out. 2 of the scratches arent straight lines.
  18. * Ive got a 5cm straight one, nfi how old, diagonal compared to roofline, since been touch-up-painted by me. * 25cm one which has 2 kinks in it, nfi how old, also been touched up. Diagonalish * 20cm straight, slightly diagonal compared to roof. Appeared in last 6 mths I think. * 25 vague L shape - appeared in last few days. All are of a similar depth of cut.
  19. Ok, Im searching for ideas here. My problem is this - Ive got about 4 scratches now on my roof. They are all in the same spot above the driver and range from 5-20cm and arent overly deep, just enuff to see the grey undercoat. Theyre not wide either. These sratches have occured over several years. I never put anything on my roof, esp not keys. What could cause this? Heat causing a crack? Seems highly unlikely, they look like scratches. Ive got Blueprint which is a metallic blue. Manmade? I am not aware of having any enemies, esp those who would scratch me over years in the same area?! Accidental manmade? I find it hard to believe that different people would do such a thing. Perhaps passengers from nearby parked cars putting their handbags on my roof then dragging them off??? I dont believe I have any enemies. Ive lived in my current apartment for 2 yrs, worked in current job for 2.5 yrs. Im fairly sure Ive accumulated these scratches over more years than that. anyone seen this before???????????
  20. sounds like BF MkIIs are getting Typhoon-like engines minus the larger intercooler!?!?!? I hear they have the same conrods now, perhaps the factory boost settings for the 'phoon come with XR6Ts from the factory now? Im going to guess the XR6T comes with 270kW on Orion day next week.
  21. australian taxpayers have been propping up Mitsu Oz for far too long. Market forces have spoken and the 380 is competing in a very tough market esp for that size car. Australian taxpayers shouldnt be subsidising foreign corporations. The passing of the 380 will be good for Ford Oz, Expensive Daewoo and Toyota Oz.
  22. I just hope the new stereo system supports MP3 CDs if it doesnt I'll spew! and I hope they dont move the side mirror controls from their current spots on the doors. and I hope the Orion doesnt add much more weight.
  23. theblueyjr, your sig says: 2005 5-speed Manual Shockwave BA MKII XR6 - FOR SALE - $22,500 ono if youve got a BA MKII werent all manuals 6-speed??
  24. Canberra fixing plan: Id remove more intersections and replace them with roundabouts. I want more efficient movement of traffic coz this saves time and petrol, I.e saves the environment. Roundabouts will save us :^P
