  1. I think it has potential but will reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh. The last car I've seen with a DuPont paint job similar to that looked fantastic. But then again that was on a euro exotic, which would have looked awesome in just about any colour.
  2. The supercharged V8's and the turbo V12 do use the 5 speed but they make an incredible amount of torque, the V12 over 1000nm. Exactly. I guess the choice of the new 6 speed auto tranny will depend on what torque levels you are ultimately after, or how much you want to spend strengthening the unit.
  3. So has anyone seen an XR in the new Cromaflair paint??
  4. That is quick! When is the car due to run in a comp?
  5. that's true I went 1 better next week ill own a F6TYPHOON all the T sfuff is going on the f6. Only thing is ford resale is sh*te house. My balance to the dealer $25.000.00 brand new 05 in LIGHTNING STRKE with WARMCHARCOAL CLOTH TRIM TINTED WINDOWS FLOOR MATS & FULL TANK OF GAS. Any good what do you think. Very nice mate. Very nice. 300+ RWKW after the mods go back in and a retune. That'll be hard to take I bet.
  6. That's why it's good that you can flash your car back to standard with EDIT. Probably the best method for powering up your car without physically altering any of the hardware.
  7. Very nice results! Now, take all the fun bits off, convert it to stock and trade it in on a 6 speed before the T5 explodes. Once you have the new toy, put all the go bits back on. Better to spend the $5k or son on a MkII/BF, than a new gearbox.
  8. Most of the hot Mercs etc. have reverted back to a 5 speed auto as the others could not handle the higher torque levels.

    Bad Parents

sh*t, I knew there was a reason for it....
  10. Dingah, That's probably one of the great things about an open forum. Everyone can express their views and share their experiences with others. It is then up to the reader make up their own mind. I agree that both edit and unichip are excellent methods for extracting additional performance out of XR T's. I, however, believe that one has distinct advantages over the other. As for the achieved results. I can and will only comment on results which I have witnessed for myself. I have now seen a number of cars tuned to power levels higher than what you believe can be achieved on standard injectors (and valve springs for that matter). I've seen the results run on more than 1 dyno, neither of which is owned by the tuner, so my belief is that this takes the "happy dyno" factor out of the equasion. One of those cars is my own. It made over 260RWKW on 8PSI and more at higher boost levels. I have a new set of injectors sitting on the shelf ready to go. I've left them off as the tuner was able to safely get the power to the T5's limits without them. How are these results possible? I don't know. I'm not a tuner. All I can comment on are the end results. Whether you choose to believe them is up to you. Based on the changes to your signature you don't, but that's OK. As long as we are both happy with the amount of money spent for the results we have achieved. Based on your previous signature, your Phase II power output is excellent. I remember the very first Qld XR 6T Dyno day, where the Phase 2 ute produced a little over 240RWKW. Knowledge and experience has been able to extract significant gains from the hardware since then. The world moves on. Cheers
  11. Dingah, 2 purposes really. 1 - Stimulate more discussion on the thread as the place seemed a little quiet last night. 2 - It appears that you expressed your opinion on what is safely possible with standard components, namely the injectors. Based on the results I have seen, it is possible. It just depends on the method used to increase power and the person tuning it. I hope that clears it up. Cheers
  12. Ssshhhhhh.
  13. That's not possible is it dingah? Not SAFELY anyway, right?
  14. Save your money Macka, you won't need the valve springs. Good to hear that it's all turning around for you. Can't keep a good man down for long. Cheers
  15. Very nice fatz. Another brake upgrade coming up. Considering a parachute???
  16. Good to hear that all has ended well.

    Edit

Standard flash is OK to run straight out of the box, but it's a generic tune much like what Ford flash in to begin with. Even with the standard flash, I would always recommend a dyno run to double check AFR's etc., just to make sure everything is OK. As Jordak mentioned, the biggest gains with the generic tunes are achieved in peak power rather than across the entire rev range. Therefore, to get the most out of your investment, I would also recommend a custom tune. Whether or not you need injectors really depends on the level of power you are looking for. If you live in the Northern states, then saving your pennies for an intercooler would be a good idea. On a strict budget though, Edit and dyno run is OK. Much better with a custom tune to go with it.
  18. Brisbane's home of quick T's.
  19. I believe he has. What a base power figure to start from.
  20. Shane on the tools and Von on the dyno. Just 2 of the reasons why FIST is fast becoming the Brisbane home of HOT T's.
  21. A big thank you to Paul and Mark for staging a great day for the turbo forum. Good to see and hear the V8's as well.
  22. Check the start of this thread. I believe these units come unpainted and can be polished or painted. I prefer the stealth look on mine.

    Inconsistent

Vary the revs for the first 500 k's or so. Change the oil and filter after about 1000 to 1500 k's, and then you are ready to go. You will find that the car looses power as the intake temps increase. Your best cure for this is a large intercooler. That will make the car significanlty more consistent, particularly once you've increased boost.
  24. I can't wait! Should be a great day. A big thank you for the guys at FIST for fitting us in at VERY short notice for the clutches. That means I can take my place on the dyno tomorrow. Mk11tute will not have a car for the rollers tomorrow as he currently looking for a new gearbox.
