  1. Bastards. Apparently they sell the chips back to people in bulk. Go figure.
  2. (Accidently did a repost if someone could delete other one for me. Cheers.)
  3. Saw one of the new Focus Rs today. This is the 2nd one Ive seen so far. The first one I saw came up my behind me in traffic (and it did it pretty fast) and I gotta say it looked as good as any FPV or HSV. Looks like 0-100 times is pretty much same ba/bf xrt which is damn fast for a hatch back. Not sure what 100+ would be like, im guessing the ba/bf's would start to pull away at that point. Great city car by the looks of things.
  4. Do highway patrol cars get flogged THAT much?? Every highway patrol I see, whether marked or unmarked, hangs back from the traffic, checking everyone out. These guys arent exactly doing doughnuts and street racing. I reckon I flogged mine harder than theirs, but hey, that's why I got one
  5. Happened to a friend of mine. I saw the site that pretends to be a security site, was very authentic looking. All the same, getting stung 3 times is a bit rich. Fooled you once, shame on them. Fooled you twice (thrice) shame on you.
  6. And they're also changing some of the points. http://smh.drive.com.au/roads-and-traffic/drivers-claim-victory-in-demerit-points-shakeup-20101128-18cfq.html Drivers claim victory in demerit points shake-up Alexandra Smith November 29, 2010 DRIVERS beware. Cranking up your car stereo could cost you $150 and two demerit points but failing to use your indicator properly or driving the wrong direction at a roundabout will not cost you a single point. A noisy engine that blows too much smoke could also leave you with a $258 fine and three demerit points but driving in a bus lane will now cost you only one demerit point. The government last week increased the number of demerit points on an unrestricted licence from 12 to 13 and cut points on 22 road offences, ranging from sticking to the right lane when the speed limit is more than 80km/h to driving down the middle of the road on a two-way street. Advertisement: Story continues below They also scrapped demerit points for several indicator offences, including using blinkers ''contrary to permitted use''. The changes were billed by the government as a big win for drivers after lobbying from the motoring group NRMA, but it is understood they were not discussed with police or the Road and Traffic Authority's Centre for Road Safety. A spokesman for the Roads Minister, David Borger, said a minute was prepared for cabinet after consultation with senior RTA officers and some proposals were modified following those talks. ''The RTA was advised in September that the Minister for Roads was considering demerit points reform. This was before the NRMA call for action,'' the spokesman said. 2 points for playing your stereo too loud... while they've got those "party buses" that make the ground shake with the music they play.
  7. Whatever. Point was Expensive Daewoo sales are dropping fast while Ford's remain steady.
  8. http://smh.drive.com.au/roads-and-traffic/drivers-cut-a-little-more-slack-in-demerit-points-shakeup-20101122-1848j.html Drivers cut a little more slack in demerit points shake-up Alexandra Smith STATE POLITICS November 23, 2010 THE state government is making a pitch to drivers by allowing them an extra demerit point on their licences in the biggest overhaul of the points system since 1969. The Premier, Kristina Keneally, announced yesterday that unrestricted licence holders would be able to accumulate 13 points while professional drivers would be entitled to an extra two points, taking them to 14. She said the changes were a reward for the majority of NSW motorists who drove safely, and would not have an impact on road safety, despite 22 demerit point offences being scrapped or reduced. The three-year period in which demerit point penalties were kept would not be changed. Advertisement: Story continues below The changes ''recognise that most drivers in NSW do the right thing, and they deserve a break, they deserve a fair go''. In another move to appease drivers, Ms Keneally said mobile speed cameras would be more clearly marked, with warning signs placed at least 50 metres before camera vehicles. The cars would be marked in bright colours, she said. The opposition spokesman on roads, Andrew Stoner, said drivers would welcome the extra demerit point but the mobile speed camera changes were an admission that the government's policy was a failure. ''NSW motorists know that this is nothing more than a publicity ploy,'' he said. Wendy Machin, president of the NRMA, said the changes were a ''big win'' for motorists.
  9. Read a newspaper article a couple of weeks ago that Holdens market share is dropping rapidly while Ford's has been steady and Toyota's climbing. Looked like Toyota would be number one selling car in AUS in 3-4 years, followed by Ford and then Holden.
  10. Ive ridden in an s5 a few times. F6 would leave you for dead.
  11. NSW loves to lock up too many Strathfield kiss-off HERE is a final reader’s horror story about the perils of trying to drop off a passenger in the big city. “Strathfield Council rangers sometimes stealthily hide in the shadow of bushes or trees and take photos of cars attempting to enter or exit school kiss and ride zones,” reports Caroline Lerts. “There is often a queue at peak times as parents try to use these drop-off zones. The reason the council rangers cite for issuing such fines and demerit points is that the cars are in No Stopping zones while queuing to enter the kiss and ride zones. It is nothing more than revenue-raising because in fact the cars are not stopping. They are merely queuing like you would in any traffic jam.” Mrs Lerts concludes with feeling: “The further cowardly act on the rangers’ part is the fact that they do not personally hand you the penalty notice, it gets mailed to your home address.” A kiss and ride zone?? They give out demerit points for this crap???????
  12. Looks awesome. Perfect combination of style/sports car. Saw one today on macquarie street (sydney) but only from behind.

    Lletracy

I used to hate the internet but now I see the benefits. No longer does television, radio, newspaper with all their "experts" have the same control over public opinion. that's why the government wanted to put get hold of it with their filters; they recogonise how dangerous true democracy is.
  14. I paid that much for 20,000 service and they used rubbish oil. If you removed the 'Ford' logo from most those places theyd be out of a job by tomorrow.
  15. Apparently the state only upgrade is for standalone gps's. Not the built-ins. Not sure.
  16. Camera detection of unauthorised vehicles FAQs "To make our roads safer for everyone, vehicles detected by an enforcement camera can also be checked for valid registration and CTP insurance. Fines may apply. What is an unauthorised vehicle An unauthorised vehicle is a vehicle without current registration. This can mean that the vehicle also has no CTP insurance. Driving an unauthorised vehicle is illegal and potentially dangerous. Why is it important to ensure vehicles are registered Registered operators have an obligation to ensure their vehicles are registered and roadworthy. Driving an unregistered vehicle can have very serious implications for the vehicle owner and pose a serious risk to the wider community as unregistered vehicles are less likely to have had a safety inspection. Additionally, if a driver has an at fault accident in an unregistered vehicle the driver or last registered operator could be held personally liable for compensation to any person injured."
  17. Hi guys, I spoke to someone today that said you can update the cd for the satnav maps for just the state you live in and its only $30-$40 instead of updating for the whole country. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks.
  18. I think ive been dissapointed with pretty much every copy of wheels ive read. They get you all excited with the cover but always let you down with the articles.
  19. Thanks guys. Will call RTA tomorrow.
  20. Guys do the Safety Cameras have a "probationary" period? Do they let them run for a while giving off flashes but not initially sending any fine? Theyre supposed to be digital arent they? So you shouldnt see any flash at all, or is that just for the "red light" function? Cheers.
  21. That's it. I'm moving there.
  22. The council spray certain weeds in peoples front yards that are considered to be noxious.

    Solar Power

A friend who I was living with had some panels put on her roof for the hot water (sydney). Trouble is it only really worked when there was heaps of sun and therefore on days when it was hot and you didnt want much hot water. On the days when you needed hot water (cold days) it hardly worked due to lack of sun and we had to keep turning on the electricity. Most environmental crap is just to stop people from feeling guilty imo.
  24. I read the book for that (half of it). Some "journalist" who uncovers this weird faction in the US defence force that looks into ways of controlling the enemy using mind power. Such a stupid book.
