  1. Hopefully the weather is fine for ya John. 10's here we come ay!
  2. My trans took about 12ish litres of trans fluid for the pan/converter/lines and cooler. So I doubt 20ml is going to cause much of an issue. You will need to put a little bit in there to compensate for the volume of the dry trans cooler and lines.
  3. You can see how I did it here:
  4. All early BA's had FPV stickers on em. Dont get excited its nothing special. The metal trans cooler lines have a threaded fitting which screws into the stock trans cooler in your radiator. You need to have some means of getting the rubber hose onto those lines. I used threaded male barb fittings which screwed onto the metal lines and then allowed me to fit the rubber lines onto them with a hose clamp. If you dont have them, then put everything back together and do it next weekend when you have all the parts. And yes you will need to remove the intercooler. As I said I had my radiator out including the intercooler. I used a fitting something like this: http://us1.webpublications.com.au/static/I...26/2692_4lo.jpg
  5. Yeah, I had plenty of room as I had the radiator out. But getting the thermos out will help a lot. Do you have 2 male barb fitting to screw onto your existing metal trans cooler lines?
  6. I just went and looked in the shed and Ive still got a little bit left over from the 1L bottle of TQ-95 so I obviously didnt use much. Did you get the pics I sent you? Time wise??? Hmmm that was like July 2007 I did that!!! I replaced my radiator at the same time as fitting the trans cooler so it would of been a few hours. You still have the stock intercooler?
  7. I think I lost a little bit of fluid when I did mine. Not much though. What I did was, fitted the lower hose to the PWR trans cooler, then filled the trans cooler up with trans fluid and fitted the upper hose. Theres a bit of a procedure to follow to get the trans level right as stated in the w/shop manual. I think I just ensured mine was level with the filler hole. I bought a hand pump so I could pump the trans fluid in. Was only a cheapy. Though it wasnt long after this that I had the filter changed and had a full flush and fill.
  8. The workshop manual specifies Castrol TQ-95. Did you loose any fluid when you fitted the Trans Cooler? Theres a filler hole on the side of the box.
  9. Ive serviced mine twice. Initially filter and full flush and fill with 12ish litres of TQ-95 or what ever the stock stuff is. Then just prior to getting tuned I replaced the filter again and did another full flush and fill with 12ish litres of Penrite ATF Synthetic. Its now changed its name to ATF FM5. Ive also had the line pressure increased during the tune. Mines been holding up perfect since being blueboosted in May 08. Not sure how much this stuff helps, but Im also running a PWR trans cooler. And as mentioned previously, heat is a big killer of these boxes. Its to suit BTR 4 speeds. http://www.penrite.com.au/files/NPYGXEI0P3/ATF%20FM5.pdf This is what Penrite say about it: "Ford BTR 4 Speed Automatics operating in extreme conditons that normally use ATF 95LE" and "Ford BTR 4 speed automatic transmissions under high heat loads"
  10. What sort of trans fluid were you running?
  11. I managed to fit mine in there! Just.
  12. Well we have plenty more on its way. This is just the start! Some more pics:
  13. Yeah mate, my place is quite high above sea level fortunately.
  14. Theres a cyclone that's recently crossed the gulf north west of us. It expected here possibly tomorrow or wed. But will more then likely end up just being a tropical low bringing some more rain. I tried to get to work this morn but was just chaos, the Excel isnt to crash hot at driving along flooded streets...
  15. Spotted one of these at WOW yesterday, says it can suit a BA Ute. Ill have to double check the size of it though. Anyone seen or used one of these boxes? http://www.dnaaudio.com.au/blowout_pages.html/asc001al.html
  16. Ah ok so is SVS is going to do it for ya, sweet. I thought you were just going to drop the pan and replace 4L of trans fluid. Did you get some Diff oil?
  17. What are you going to do about the old trans fluid that's still in the torque converter/trans cooler?
  18. Yeah all the work was done to it prior to him buying it from the car yard. He dosnt want me fix it for fear of voiding his warranty. But it would be cheaper for the car yard!! Its costing $275 to truck it to Expensive Daewoo on Monday. I reckon I could at least pop the ball back into the socket to get him on the road at least.
  19. Ah, so it seems Expensive Daewoo knows about this fault...! No doubt I could fix this to at least get him home, but the thing is 2 hours away locked up at a RACQ depo....
  20. Yep.
  21. He bought the ute from a car yard and they have given a warranty on it. Its had a cam, injectors, larger TB, extractors n exhaust and a tune. Im surprised they warrantied the thing at all.... He just got the ute back like 2 weeks ago from the panel beaters after a little sideways incident in the wet. Had it for like 2 days then this fault happened. The car yard had it fixed under warranty and got it back from them last tuesday. He drove it up here and she has failed again, interesting thought with the Rip shift idea. that's a possibility. Thanks for the heads up about thrifty, ill look into that. Its getting trucked down here and is booked into the Expensive Daewoo dealership 12pm on Monday, so hopefully the trucky has it loaded by 10am. Him and his mate will have to arrange a few extra days off work it seems.. Let some one else drive the Mini..............
  22. It seems like they needed to move the shifter back like 2 inchs and this is what they came up with...?
  23. This is more like it.
  24. Mate, you are seriously getting ripped off there. I bought a new radiator from Ford 1 1/2yrs ago and it cost me $347incl GST. EDIT: I take it that's supply/install? It does surprise me that there are still members on this forum with 4spd Auto's who still run the stock trans cooler in the radiator. For a $200 trans cooler/lines, its simply not worth risking it.
  25. Yup this is the Expensive Daewoo T56 shifter setup. Ford setup. He is doomed up here till the ute gets fixed, him and his mate have to go back to work on Monday, flights are $400ea one way and he cant rent a car as he is under 25.. I might try and go for a drive up there tomorrow if I can get access to the depo and have a look. Had no tools with us and I was still pretty drunk yesterday morning to do anything with about it.
