No one fitted a supercharger without telling you?
  2. Well yes their job is to throw plastics at it, and often it works that's why the GT looks so much better than the xt and many other similar examples including original VE HSVs but these new ones are just plain ugly.
  3. Nice looking car, they did a little more than HSV and went a bit further than looks only. If it also has a bit more power and less weight they can justify calling it a black edition. While at HSV wonder if their customers really preffer the new ugly, plastic gallore, "copy a bit from every car" design of the new HSVs. The original VE HSVs are nice though...
  4. LOL yes what Luke said. Speed is measured by rear ABS sensors, there is one on each wheel pointing at the drive shaft.

Loved the comment about the E type. "It shows that we were once aa great as we think we are now" (watched it last night so might not be word for word)
  6. It's not always about the records either, it's about every day driveability for some people. So all those "first <insert figure here> car in country" some workshops brag about doesn't mean that much.
  7. No one is stopping them, but keep in mind this is not a drif set up car, it's show room spec and he was using a very narrow piece of tarmac. BTW up for sale an almost new C63 with only 2.3 km on the clock
  8. Sound like they realised it will cost too much and decided to try and f you off if they can. Never tried removing it on the falcon so can't be sure what's involved but haven't seen a car where you can't remove a vent from.
  9. 10w30 is recommended by Ford for these engines in NA form. Once you add a turbo and some boost oil temp will be a little higher, that's why ford recommends a w40 oil and you should stick with it. If you do anything that will cause oil to be heated any further like track work, serious hill climbs, heavy towing you can maybe go up to w50, w60 would only be for extreme situations. Remember that ford built an engine oil temperature warning light in to these things and only few have ever seen the thing come on so they can't be getting that hot to require a w60 oil.
  10. 60 is too thick for general street use.
  11. Yes, it's ok, just don't go below 95.
  12. I would have to disagree, maybe one is not better than the other like some of us feel but there are differences I'm sure of that. Ever noticed that when you fill up your instant fuel consumption on idle changes? Mine sometimes drops by 0.4 l/h guessing computer senses some sort of a change. There were people on here also reporting black soot on the rear bar on certain fuels (think it's shell but not 100% sure).
  13. You will also be doing everyone else a favour by not burning their eyes with your non focused HIDs. They just don't work with factory headlights.
  14. I don't like shell, it might all be in my head but I feel like car is more crisp and feels like it runs better on other fuels.
  15. They removed it and cleaned it but not sure how well it was cleaned. I'm just not sure how likely a blown turbo is to destroy an engine. Maybe more likely that something broke in the engine first and spat it through the exhaust destroying the turbo?
  16. I guess you're going to Eastern Creek. Last time I went it was cold as, car felt great but no traction. Track was cold, and it wasn't prepared well at all. I went few times before and never had traction issues, but this time I felt like there was less traction than on the street. A friend went few weeks ago and sounds like it was pretty sh*t then too. So I'd suggest launching it similar to what you do on the street (or a lttle harder) and go from there. If it grabs, next time go harder.
  17. I think most of them don't give a f*ck, just loke those flogging the sh*t out of their car 3 seconds after starting it cold.
  18. Sorry guys Should have been more specific, turbo blew up and spat pieces through exhaust and in to IC. New big aftermarket turbo goes on (this is on RB25) and engine runs like a dog and blowing sh*t loads of smoke (white/gray I haven't seen it myself) I'm just a bit sceptical that a blown turbo can f*ck up an engine that bad... Edit: again sorry about the thread hijack
  19. I preffer it tight thanks... Now to get back on the bov topic, MAF sensor in xr6t? Not sure if serious...
  20. Have to say what his mate did, you can't just mention sh*t like that and not elaborate. Also people on tight budgets should not modify cars...
  21. A question probably not too helpful to OP... When a turbo blows up, and I mean blow up so that is spits pieces through the exhaust. How likely is it that pieces big enough can get through the intercooler and f*ck up the engine. And f*ck it up enough to blow sh*t loads of white smoke on idle?
  22. They are changing the rules completely for the 2013 season, apparently another one or two teams likely to join. One is most likely Hyundai not sure who else is interested.
  23. Not sure about "can't go wrong" part just because someone is a site sponsor, lately there were few stories of blown engines from generic tunes by site sponsors. But NVT I agree with getting it right the first time, when I was looking for tuners I picked one over the other to save few hundred $$$, now I wish I wasn't a tight ass back then. No blown engine or anything but let's just say that not all tunes are the same even if end KW numbers might be similar. So do your research, no matter who you pick. And don't get carried away by records like "fastest <insert name here> in oz", this many 10 sec <insert name> in the country bla bla bla... Last year a friend took his 34 GTR to some idiots with a fastest 2JZ in AU only to have two blown turbos 2 weeks later.
  24. Who tuned it? Has it started doing this immediately after the tune?
