18" Rims

Can anyone confirm what the cost is for the 18" rims?

And if Ford offers some sort of "buyback" for the standard 17" rims that come with the car.

The changeover cost from the factory is $1500 for 4 x 18" wheels & tyres.

It's $1900 for 5 x 18" wheels and tyres.

Go the 18"s. they look great. :D

Does this include a buyback for the original 17" rims? Also once the car is nearly complete ie at FPV getting the turbo etc, can the rims be installed then? Im hoping if I go 18" it doesnt delay the car anymore.

$1500 is the price to upgrade from 17's to 18's including buyback, quite steep but after seeing them l think its worth the cost. They really finish off the look of the car.

If you have ordered premium brakes then, as we found out, you also have to option the spare as an 18" (this logically should also apply to the 17's if you go for the brakes). Think it has something to do with wheel offsets.

You would think that if your car is at FPV you could change the rims over, but the Ford system seems really clumsy and inflexible. l reckon if you pressure your dealer he should be able to organise it. Well worth it in my opinion if you can.

having to order the 18" spare because of the premium brakes would have to do with the brakes, not offset. the offset on all AU and BA wheels is meant to be the same.

I don't think $1800 for a set of 5 18x8 wheels is too much. it's almost what you'd pay at the shops for a set of aftermarket wheels, if you traded in the 17s.

Yeah the 18's look awesome ,I dont really like the 17's much. I ordered my 18's with only 4 so it was cheaper. the tyres on the 18's are directional as well. the 17's are not. very much worth the money I think.

I'm not too sure you'd be able to get the 18's for $1500 AFTER delivery... pretty sure it's a "from the factory" price. It's not a "buyback" as such, it's more that Ford are acknowledging that in upgrading from 17" to 18", the 17's are actually worth *something*.

you can always wait for a while and get them from ford spare parts. it IS going to cost you a little more, but after you sell your 17s (I reckon they'll be hot property soon), that should offset the cost quite nicely.

there are some great looking aftermarket rims as well though!

just try out the 17s for the time being, have some fun, and look into getting 18s in 3-4 months when all the BA hoo-haa is over.
