  1. Happy Birthday richdave!

  2. Made from toffee containing large
  3. Erm... as Dags put it ... "back in the day" I'm member 13 and was a Mod for a while. BTW never been near Dag's zipper and never will... LOL @Dags... sorry that it was a repost... I had a quick look and did not find it My bad!
  4. Well I thought some here may be interested in this Top Gear OZ
  5. I doubt that "performance" is anywhere in the equation for the Diesel Territory..
  6. All good points replicant.... But I just want one 'cause it's the closest thing to a performance wagon that Ford sell (or will soon)... VRRROOOMMMM :-) Plenty of room for the tools and parts I carry, and at least some way to the performance of the "T"
  7. Ummm... think you are confused, The only time the car is "replaced" is if your policy has a new for old clause, and usually only applies for the 1st or at best 2nd year. My car is 3 years old and would not be replaced. The insured value is what the cheque amount will be less any excess payable that they write out to me if it is either written off or stolen and unrecovered for the specified time. It seems to me that a whole lot of XT6T's will get written off or get lost if they keep this up. This black duck is too honest for that sort of caper....
  8. So I have had to insure the "T" privately since the lease is up... So I call the insurance Co. After all the fluffing about and telling them my life story, the fella on the phone tells me the car is insured for $34,000 I nearly fell off the chair....
  9. Go here... On line conversion tool
  10. not yet. just like the XR6T, they are drip feeding us to keep the hype up. Wissh they'd get their sh*t together, publish the spec s and price so I can order one ASAP.
  11. Anyone heard anything about the ride height of the turbo T? Hoping it will sit a little lower than the standard unit....
  12. My local dealer "priced" one up the other day, reckons that the Ghia would be low/mid 60's WITH fleet discount so that makes HIGHT 60's retail. that's a bit outa my reach so perhaps the lower spec TX based unit may be the go...with a few options perhaps.
  13. Make sure you are aware of the extra slug that will occur for the "luxury" tax administration on top of the actual increase in payments due to it's addition. I was looking at a novated lease that topped over the luxury tax threshold and it was a significant extra slug per year I'm going CHP/log book this time not novated lease
  14. I dont get the negative comments about the top mount intercooler... Subaru have been doing it for years... quite sucessfuly to I might add so why not on a Ford??
  15. I am goning to get one... The decision will be what model as I am told there will be 2 - one based on the TX and the other based on the Ghia. That will ultimately come down to price, but rest assured I WILL order once the prices are released, un seen and un driven if necessary. I got the XR6T un seen and un driven and was not dissapointed.
  16. Been hiding under a bush for a while.... so did not even know it was coming out. Heading out the door to order a Terirort Ghia when I chanced on the article on the ford site. Order on hold till June/July. Gotta have one...... not sure if I can stretch to the Ghia turbo though

Thanks for the pics Mondie... Looks just like a Mazda 6 IMO. Nothing startling, but then I didn't expect anything different. I actually booked a test drive for today but when Mazda called I discovered that the MPS only comes as a manual and there is no wagon. Cancelled the drive as these points are non negotiable. Perhaps they will release a wagon variant later. Better not be too late else I will have purchased the Subaru....

Thanks Mondie for your review... I have booked a drive so I will soon be able to post my impressions. When it comes time to change over, I suspect it will ultimately be a 3 way tussle between the Subaru GT, 3.0R and the Mazda MPS. Can't wait to see the pics
  19. A bit like XP.... Yeah had that too in the "T"... bit of a btich. Runs like a dog for a while. I have found that a reboot smoothes it out real fast
  20. thanks dude, it's due for a service too....
  21. Now dont get too excited here... not a Turbo, or even a XR6 for that matter. SWMBO has a BA XT sedan. I moved it from the drive to the rear lawn on Saturday afternoon. Didnt bother to idle/warm it just kicked it into life drove it 6mt max and switched it off. This morning, it would not start. Turned over OK but no hint of ignition. RACV arrived and diagnosed it as a flooded engine. Apparently common in BA's I haveen't heard of this before. The cure was to put the accelerator flat to the floor and crank it till it fired then back off the pedal and run at high revs for a "few" minutes Not so sure that's the best way to go, sorta like reving a cold engine to get the "lumps" out of it as I was advised by a total head when I was much younger. Needless to say glad it's a company car and that I was not there else the RACV guy just might have had a black eye for the mechanical abuse inflicted....(IMO) Apparently having the pedal flat to the florr before you turn the ignition cuts the fuel pump off. Anyone heard of this before? BTW SWMBO's co worker reckons same happened to him and the fix was same
  22. I have Caltex and BP fuel cards so I usually use those brands. I will get the 98 (BP) or the 95(Caltex) if the price differential is low, else ULP it is. If I can't get to either of these I use whatever is next along the road. That said, I do try to put 98 in at least once a month to keep things clean and have noticed the extra bang for buck but not convinced that it is worth the extra cash. As for better fuel economy... seem a load of ...not in this car, same no matter what I use. For some reason I "feel" that the Shell optimax is the "smoothest" fuel in my car but I don't make a point of gettting it due to the price and hassle of having to pay up front and claim it back later.
  23. Not sure I agree with this statement. I have a Feb 03 T and while it did have shudder issues, not anymore. The last fix was 25000km ago and they installed a diferent composition pad, apart from heaps more dust on the front rims... it's perfect now.
