Nice one. Carplay really brings the fg into the modern era. Bout all u need really that and torque guages.

Love to see wheels magazine review the interior again, none of that this car is amazing but crap because of the out of date interior [emoji3166] theyd prob still complain though

I posted the night shots of the Alpine head unit as it doesn’t have a illumination input, and I wanted to show how good it was - not too bright and not looking non-gen. I hate the tack on and fn stick on stuff - prefer a clean and relatively stock dash. So the hands free mic will be tried up in hole of the front interior lights ( where the original mounts ) which aftermarket  mics don’t perform well in enclosed areas. The Alpine has microphone adjustments which may help. Will post results.

What model head unit did you do in the end.

Hi aussie!

I had planned to install a  iLX-W650E , as it was shallow enough to replace the original display . But the boss gave me an old iLx -107 ( I think that was it ) that was the same size, so that’s what I have installed.
The current iLX-107 has changed to a single din chassis with a 7inch screen, which doesn’t fit so that is now out of the picture. I did ask Alpine about separating the 2 components but the answer was no, and no warranty if anyone did. So the W650E is the go.

Is there any other head unit non-alpine with the same chassis size and possible Dab+ that maybe you looked at?

Yes DAB+ would be nice, but I haven’t found a unit yet  that ticks all the boxes. I looked at the Alpine Freestyle 7” unit in the UK as the display is only 33.5cm deep, and it had DAB+, and uart, plus Alpine offered to get me one. But it was going to be very expensive, with doubts the nav and the Apple CarPlay would operate here 😳

I was having computer issues and used the picture loading as a test that things were ok
