Sorry about the delay mate ....

on B series the issue stems to the ICC. As the car is switched off it goes through 3 stages of shut down, 15min,30min and final 45min each draws lower currents from the battery

I’ve found x3 falcons now that won’t go past 1st stage ( basically radio and full icc functions “live” but screen off ) and hang there and drain the battery in around 1-2 days depending on battery capacity

removal of fuse 23 ( iirc ) when switching off the car ( basically cutting all power to the icc ) releives the battery from this parasitic drain. Now this can come back to the same on FG but I’ve never had an FG with this issue, that said, FG’s are now getting to that age so I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a “Thing”

a new ICC can fix this, a switch on the CCT or go the old fashioned isolator that I’ve done for customers when planning on leaving the car for extended periods of time ;)

Thanks! How did you work that one out?

Very useful information.

I have pulled all the icc and bcm fuses and the current draw remains. I also have an aftermarket ICC which may be the culprit as it has the can bus control as well. Just cant find the culprit circuit. I have heard of faulty diodes in the alternator causing this kind of problem. Battery loses enough charge that I cant start the engine 24 hours after ladt use.

Simply got sick n tired of a customers BF2 turbo that kept killing batterys within a few days

not to mention I’m kind of into electrical stuff being an electrician lol

few days stiffing around with a multimeter and clamp meters etc etc

didn't get to the point of pulling the icc apart to diagnose if it was possible to fix the glitch but it was enough to remidy a solution that was easy enough

hope this helps you in some way :)

Didnt realise you were an electrician. Yeah, been going to town with my multimeter. Will update if I can figure it out.

Hmm, well it looks like the issue was the battery after all. Basically a can bus error in the aftermarket Kayhan ICC killed the battery. I didnt use the car for about 10 days or so late last year and the battery went flat. Recharged it and it happened a few more times. The can bus issue caused a current draw and I am guessing the voltage went really low  - like < 9-10V as the current draw persisted while the car was not being used. Actually the battery was completely dead on a few occasions - no lights or anything.

The penny dropped that the battery was cactus (Exide 630cca) last week. Charged overnight - measuring 12.5V, but car wont turn over - just clicking noise. All the lights and dash started dimming when I tried to start the car and got lots of errors/faults that you normally see with low voltage. So battery can measure ok voltage but still not have enough juice to start the engine.

Anyway Kayhan fixed the can bus issue earlier this year. Got a new battery and all seems ok over the past week.

Still pissed that the ICC killed what was a perfectly good battery. Although I seem to go through batteries every 2 or so years.

I have an FG and just went through the same process. Car was not turning on aircon properly. would not turn over on first start. had to try a second time to get her to crank over properly and start. Replaced 3 year old century 640cca battery just this past week and all is back to normal.

I even charged my battery over a whole weekend 2 weeks ago only to find it would not crank over on monday morning.

They just on't make batteries like they use to.

Yeah, I did not realise that normal battery voltage is not enough.

Now Iam wiser will just change battery at first sign of trouble....

I'm not sure if my issue is similar or not, but twice now I have had the "Charge Fail" error and when I check the codes I am getting P0622... hmmmm (09 G6ET)

@kink I take it that you have an FG.

Use this site to look up your code:

Yea cheers I did see that not long after I posted. Guess I'll have to get it looked at before I get stuck. Currently working one side of Adelaide and living on the other
