timing cover removal

Its my job, I am payed not to miss things.

 

Get some recommendations on what settings the fixed sprockets should be. Or get some stock ones and re-install, Stock ones will greatly improve fuel economy at part throttle openings.

I put it back together, drives great, smooth power but is shaking at idle, sounds like my diesel hilux, any ideas?

Did you get the timing correct ?

didn't move the chain at all. had the cams pinned the whole time. I assume if it was a tooth out I would hit a valve and it wouldnt go?

So what parts did you replace?  Didn't you check the timing?

timing was fine before I started, just had the broken guide and tensioner, I replaced those that's it.

redid the timing, same problem. now I realise I must be out 1 tooth on 1 of the cams...are there any guides on how to reset the timing so I don't f--- this up again? I don't know which is out

The chain must have some marks.  You can't set it up without them.

yeah I got it, I assumed the noise was from the broken guide and tensioner but it looks like the left cam is wayyy out. thanks

Look at mine. I couldnt be bothered turning the crank for the markings to line up exact. But you can see that the sprockets are at the correct spacing.
