OK Street Tuner I will bite first, I am sure Peter will have his say also.

Now correct me if I am wrong but your ute run slicks or Dot Radials and a different diff ratio and a flat tray (light) for it's 12.7 second pass.

So technically although things like the diff arn't part of the engine, then niether is running C21 or even gas (Yes it does feed the engine but it is not part of the engine when plumbed into the intake.) You could even strip the interior and make the car lighter.

It is a trick question you ask, because you have the advantage of having an ECU that has been cracked and using LS1 edit.

My point is there are many other things you can do to a car to get down the 1/4 mile faster than stock other than play with the engine.

On a serious note, why do people charge about a grand to perform a tune on an LS1. Are there any parts supplied other than the laptop programming?

Hey good one Martin, can I spend the same on the drive train.....you know hi stall converter, 4.11 final drive ratio, slick tyres etc.etc. Not to mention the full exhaust system that you dont count in your $1500 spent on engine mods.

You put the stock exhaust system back on the one tonner and you have a bet, The xr6t will blow your doors off and I will be happy to take your money. How much are you willing to bet, come on time to put your money where your mouth is.

I was running a different gear ratio (god help the 3.07), and ET Street DOT approved tyres. No other engine mods. Stock airbox, stock extractors, HSV exhaust. Nothing special. It was pretty much all in the tune, which is why its worth $1500. A lot of engine and transmission shift calibration there.

Dont get me wrong though I loved my T to bits, other than the usual Ford bits that fall off it. Its just healthy to give Pete a challenge once in a while, he thrives on it!

Pete, dont be like that mate, you know the Tonner is a superior thing...which is apparently, according to the 'Prof' why you have one!

However, rock up to the nationals with a Stage I or II car (if you think the exhaust is an issue) and I will happily serve you up. That would be nice! Its unfortunate though Im the only one of the board to challenge you....thought there MIGHT be other takers....but alas, only poor individual, backyard budget, me. GO the underdog!

Well 100% I got some new times too! Lets see yours. Let me wind my new found boost up - and I can - and Ill be on my second beer by the time you cross the line. Dont become another forum 'all talk no action' like the others. It is however cheaper than actually racing.

And, if you want gears and a converter...just go out and buy em!

Plenty of us ready to go heads up, I will be at Calder this Friday, next Friday..............anytime you want to come down, feel free! Just stop this Bulls%$t that we are all wooses coz we won't come to YOUR race! It's getting really tired :hiwelcome: Maybe some of us just don't want to race on a slow track with crap facilities for a big meet!
