I would be very concerned if this was happening while moving with any sort of speed. I've had the power steering go once (shredded fan belt) and the XR is bloody hard to steer without it.

This happens to me when going down a hill using the gears to slow me instead of braking (whouldn't want to warp the brakes :banghead: ) and the car just cuts out. Has also happend when brake hard with aircon on.

Mines dec02 model with auto trans.

Air con on ... brake hard ... engine stalls sometimes. :(

It's a little better since the 15000 service and the ECM flash. <_<

Mine has always had a problem when braking and stopping at lights. The revs drop down to about 350 - 450 and the car gets the wobbles up as if it is about to stall. However, the other day I was pulling out onto a busy road (Milton Rd Brisbane for anyone who knows the area) and it just stalled as I was coming out of fhe servo. I just had to restart it but I don't like the sound of this. I need a reliable car and I don't need any more problems than what I have already had.

I'm thinking about hanging out till the 30000 k service which is due soon and seeing if there is a fix for it hen.

Hi All

As a lot of others have, I too have had the dreaded stalling problem, again same deal, manual, hard braking, clutch very sad ( fully depressed ) or out of gear completely, and stall. I'm no mechanic and correct me if I'm wrong but this should not be happening in a brand new car, unless you completely balls up your gear changes and have poor clutch control! and IMHO I don't think that temp should have anything to do with this problem unless of course your running at abnormal temps on the gauge. Anyone who has experienced this problem should be really concerned and should have their service departments fix the problem instead of their normal fob offs "I'm sorry sir but there are no fault codes listed" whether fault codes show or not as owners of these vehicles driven daily we know if there's a problem or not sometimes this service depts can be so patronising ( end of RANT!!!! ) Happy motoring!!!

Mine happens occasionally although it has never happened whilst moving, only when stationary on a hot day with the aircon on in D.

Mines a manual and it has stalled on 2 occasions when coasting to a halt at lights. Worse is that on 2 occasions I had trouble starting the car and once it was started it would run like a crippled dog for about 3 mins. When the car had it's 3000km service I pointed this out but was told that no error codes were logged. Then the other day the car would not start initially, then when it did it ran so rough ir was nearly undrivable. I had to leave it on the side of the road and get someone to give me a lift so I could make an appointment. When I returned to pick up the car and take it to the dealer ( 6 hrs latter), it started 1st go and didn't miss a beat. The dealer ran a diagnostic on it and came up with nothing. This happened 6000kms since the previous time. Any clues anyone?
