Having switched to Shannons for my car, I just insured the home and contents with them too. They chucked in an extra $10k to cover for car bits around the home. Tyres. Spare turbo. Tools. Etc. And they said that they cover items in the garden shed too.

AAMI, Apia, Bingle, CIL, GIO, Insure my ride, Just car, Resilium, Shannons, Suncorp & Vero are all owned and underwritten by Suncorp Insurance.

All have very different PDS and entitle you to different things when making a claim. It may be worth checking these before comparing a low $500 excess & premium to others. As when it comes to making a claim, I believe preferred repairer, genuine parts, hire car option all matter for the sake of $100-200 a year.

I know I have peace of mind knowing that my pride and joy want be heading over to the local sausage factory for repairs.
