October 8, 201412 yr #1 Looking at doing some work to my fg xr6t, hoping for around 300rwkw as a start. Wondering if its worth going to 300rwkw and is it a noticeable difference over stock power? car will be a daily, would like some more bottom end pull and abit more aggresive.
October 8, 201412 yr #2 Im 100% sure that 300rwkw is noticeable over stock. It also come down to what you put into it and how much $$ you want to spend. Plus not to forget who you get to tune the car,Mines getting done soon and so far this is my listKPM 1000 ijectorsKPM air intakeProcess West stage 1 coolerProcess Muffler DeleteMuffler - Cat, DumpSCT X4 flashplus Custom tuneAll up im looking around 6k Power I have no idea ill find out whens its done.As the great man Jeremy Clarkson once said..............POWER!! October 8, 201412 yr #3 Hi mate,My G6ET has 298.3 rwkw (I think) and that has a stage 1 tune kit and a CAI.Tune, injectors, plugs, thermostat, Herrod CAI etc. Not too hard to get 300rwkw out of these
October 8, 201412 yr #4 ^^^plus high flow cat or euro 4 cat with ristrictor ring removedPlus a cooler to make the power repeatable/reliable
October 9, 201412 yr #5 How deep are your pockets mate? Once you get 300rwkw, you will be happy for 3-6 months and then you want more.If you can afford to, go all out now and get it done right the first time as many have said. What is your power goal. if you not sure, go on a cruise and ask someone with a modded car to take you out for a drive. You can then gauge how much power you are after.Good luck and enjoy.
October 9, 201412 yr #6 I lasted 3 months before I went for more so just be aware it happens to most around here
October 9, 201412 yr #7 if you cant afford to do it all at one go, then get some supporting mods at first like a stage 2 or 3 intercooler depending on your end goal.Don't get 42lb injectors if you plan on getting 400rwkw at a later stage. you better off getting ID1000 now.Don't do any changes to your exhaust or turbo now as you can hit 300rwkw easily with the appropriate support mods.Plan your mods and you wont regret it in the end. Spoil yourself as well and if you have a manual, get a aeroflow shortshifter. Edited October 9, 201412 yr by masda74
October 9, 201412 yr #8 I remember when 300rwkw was big power. The difference over a stock BA power to 300rwkw was a huge.
October 11, 201412 yr #9 Hey Mate - I went through the same thing and all the upgrade stages and can pitch in a bit. There will be more power no doubt.Yes it will be noticeable but only with appropriate tyres to make the extra power useable and your going to need expensive ones. Value for money it's hard to say that depends on how you treat your money. What you need is Modified Factory Airbox, or if you like noise get a Pod filter intake kit, ID1000 Injectorsand a highflow dump pipe on earlier cars and a F6 Intercooler, or a aftermarket intercooler if you like doing repeated pulls,The proccess west stage 1 appears to be the best package fitment and performance wise If you look around you'll see most tuners have a Stage 1 which makes up of Injectors, Tune, and a few small tweaks and check-ups, this will get you close to 300 depending on your carIf you are new to the FG and you want to make it reliable at this power, if it's a manual and you like revving it a lot, or if it's an Auto and you likemanual shifting, get the oil pump gear upgraded. If it's an Auto and you like revving it a lot, get the flexplate bolts taken care of otherwise it will come loose. You will get somewhat improved bottom end performance but the majority of the power is noticable at 3000RPM onwards, once the car is rolling at a low speed and you punch it, this area is majorly improved. If your in WA I can provide a demonstration.
