January 1, 201412 yr #11 Author Also I do not recommend removing the pressure hose all together to the actuator. This will cause the turbo to over boost and cause serious damage to the turbo. If the impellers of the turbine break there is only one place for them to go....the intake manifold!! Kind regards, PA
January 1, 201412 yr #12 Author all the above methods work really well, but for even extra boost (and if the budget allows) use one of these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dual-Turbo-Air-Intake-Fuel-Saver-Fan-F1-Z-Turbine-charger-Supercharger-Uinversal-/130938390465?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e7c8947c1&_uhb=1 Great suggestion. If you do a brake upgrade at the same time. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130962922923 , he will combine shipping. If you have the budget a flux capacitor will see gains of 140+ bhp! Kind regards, PA
January 1, 201412 yr #13 Ok so for a Sensible and Useful answer :On Ford Falcon Turbos the boost is controlled by a solenoid, which is on the hose that runs from the compressor housing to the wastegate actuator. This is controlled by the ECU to reach a desired boost level that is set from factory. The actuator bleeds off air from this line much like common electronic boost controllers do.When taking the car for a tune, the tuner can access the maps for boost control, and set a higher boost level which will also require the car to be re-tuned at the same time for correct fuel and timing to accommodate the higher boost.
January 1, 201412 yr #15 Also I do not recommend removing the pressure hose all together to the actuator. This will cause the turbo to over boost and cause serious damage to the turbo. Kind regards, PAPretty sure the motor will blow before the turbo does if its overboosting
January 2, 201412 yr #16 Author Also I do not recommend removing the pressure hose all together to the actuator. This will cause the turbo to over boost and cause serious damage to the turbo. Kind regards, PA Pretty sure the motor will blow before the turbo does if its overboosting All dependant on where the boost is over the rpm range. If your comment is correct, why are these people applying more boost to an engine that is not capable in the first place? Kind regards, PA
January 2, 201412 yr #17 You need extra fuel with extra boost and the correct timing. The factory computer will only compensate within a limited set of parameters before it will go into limp mode, throw up a light, hopefully (but not definitely) before engine fails.
January 3, 201412 yr #18 Also I do not recommend removing the pressure hose all together to the actuator. This will cause the turbo to over boost and cause serious damage to the turbo. If the impellers of the turbine break there is only one place for them to go....the intake manifold!! Kind regards, PAThe blades of the turbine will go down the exhaust, not to the intake.
January 3, 201412 yr #19 Phil,After being on the forum for 5 minutes you asked a question that had been answered 1000 times. If you had just read a few posts in the turbo section or used the search function you would have found the answer.Ask a market research question and you will get treated like a market researcher calling at 6PM (dinner time) and asking to answer a quick survey that ends up taking 20mins.Now my dinner is cold..................
January 3, 201412 yr #20 To be fair he's been pretty good about all the amusing answers Nothing personal Mr PA, you understand...thanks for giving us a chance to have some fun. But yeah these are touchy cars that do not like things being changed (they need the ECU edited to be told what to do, they don't think for themselves much in contrast to Nissan/Subaru etc)A+ thread, would likely read again. You don't get A+++ though because you didn't get your back up
