Have an autometer oil pressure gauge all wired up but can't get it to read anything. I've tested all the wiring with a test light. The ignition source (spliced off cigarette lighter) is strong and the ground seems to be strong (screwed to a sanded area of the aluminium framing behind the dash). The sender wire is very dim on the test light but I assumed this was because there is not much pressure as the car idles. However, when I rev it I though the signal would increase but it doesn't. Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong?

sometimes the terminal tabs on back of gauges are loose from new, in my case. gauge didnt work until tightened. Try that and test outside cup holders.

The nuts are done up pretty tight on the back of the gauge

Teflon tape insulating sender from engine block.

It says to in the instructions? The oil passes through the opening in the middle....
