I have had a guy come now for the past two years at least once a month to do my lawns, edges and weeding he charges a reasonable $60 to do the lawn and has done it every month without any complaints.

I have a dog who tends to go to the bathroom near the shed in the backyard and often there are quite a considerable amount of dry dog poo on the lawn in previous times he has mowed over them fertilising the grass (that area of grass is the greenest of the whole lawn).

However today he said to me that he will not be coming anymore to do my lawns.. I asked why as he has always done a fantastic job and really does the extra mile to ensure that the lawns are nice and clean and no weeds are around.

He said to me because the dog poo is too much, he cant do it anymore as it is affecting his breathing and it is clogging up his mower. He said that he didn't want to tell me as I am a nice person, but decided that he should discontinue doing my lawns.

Question is...

Do you think its reasonable him saying he is not doing my lawns because of this? I was a bit taken back as to why he did not tell me in the past.. I would have bought a pooper scooper and cleaned it before he came.

What are your thoughts?

Sorry having a bit of a rant as I have had a bad day today with one thing after another going wrong, and this added to it as well.

Seems a bit steep to stop doing it just for that.

If he was going to go to that extent by telling you he's no longer doing it anymore, one would think first and not as hard a step would be to ask to clean the poop up before hand.

Maybe there's another reason behind it?

Should be picking the crap up not just running over it with his mower..

I know I pick it up otherwise the really dry ones become flying faeces dust..

I'd offer to pick it up before he comes and see if he goes with it..

maybe he has too much work on and culling the jobs with any negatives I.e. the dogchit lawns, the steep lawns, lawns too far out of town etc.

I rang him back and offered to clean it all up to the best of my abilities before he comes out.. so let's see how that goes first. He said he will come out in the next few weeks and do the lawn again.. if he cancels it again after that there is another issue.. really strange as the guy is sort of a family friend as my dad has known him for several years. I would have expected him to just say "Chris, do you mind cleaning this up before I come?" I would have agreed without any problems rather then causing it to be awkward as it was today.

Think its time to get my Toro lawnmower back from my sister's place and start doing it myself for a change..

Maybe it's destroying his mower diff bushes.

No he didn't mention that.. just said that he has to clean dog poo off his blades after he comes here with gloves etc... Just seemed like a poor excuse for not coming and doing the lawns anymore in my opinion. Let's see how he goes the next time he comes out and see what happens..
