Hi, I have a '04 BA XR6t and im getting it dynotuned again Friday for new injectors being put in. It also has CAI (pod filter) and CAT removed (NZ). I was wondering if anyone knows the power difference there would be if I tune it on 95 instead of 98. Also can you get a good tune out of 95. The tuner will load a VCM tune and tweek it from there. Cheers Martin PS. Injectors are 440s

Depending on the quality of the fuel I would expect less timing and less boost running 95. So I would expect to see less power on 95 but not a massive difference I wouldnt think. Just my 2c anyway

If you get a 95 tune that means you always have to get 95..don't be filling with 98 and think she'll be right..lol

95 tunes sap heaps of power. My bf f6 with id1000 injectors and 5"cat only made 267kw, on 98 would've gone nearly 290 on the same dyno. The margin gets worse as mods increase.

Nope stoichometric ratio (google it) for both 95 and 98 is the same. 98 is higher octane hence bigger bang for your buck so more HP.

Personally being in NZ I would tune for 95 using VCM as you cant have both tunes like on the Xcal. Think of it like this, is there anywhere in NZ that you might go with your vehicle and need to possibly fill up and not get 98 due to the location. Also if tuned for 98 and for some reason you couldnt get it you could fill with 95 but would have to drive very calmly and makes sure you dont boost hard on the lower octane.

Cheers Wenier, that's why I thought the 95 tune would be better. Would the power difference be as much as 20rwkw? Although I would be happy with a good 250-260rwkw tune and much more then that you have to start worrying about valve springs and gearbox issues as I have read on other posts, also misses uses it as a daily driver.
