January 27, 201214 yr #1 I recently replaced my auto shifter knob with one I got for cheap on eBay. The silver colouring was worn away on mine.I was bored today so I pulled the old one apart and wrapped it in Carbon Fibre look adhesive sheeting.Step 1- Remove the auto shifter.Slide down the leather boot from the base of the knob. Then slide down the plastic end piece- no screw or clips it just reqires a little force.Remove the small u-clip from the shaft, just under where the boot would meet the knob. Once that's off then the knob just slides off.And the knob removed.Step 2- Disassemble the knob.Easy. Gently push down on the top of the button with a small flat head screwdriver. You can see the small plastic bit on the top holding it in in the photo below.Once the button is out of the knob and hanging forward out of the assembly, just pull it to one side to release the bottom clips. No screws or glue or anything else holding it in. It will just fall out.Inside you will see a small phillips head screw.Undo this and the top part will come off.The top leather part will also fall free.Step 3- Applying Carbon Sheet. This is 3M Di-Noc Carbon Sheet. I got a A4 sheet from ebay for about 10 bucks. Ive had it sitting around for ages. Was going to wrap my iPhone- then lost it.Before applying- clean the trim piece with alcohol to remove any grime or oils. Then cut a piece of the sheets off, remove the adhesive backing and stick it to the trim piece. Then hit it with a heat gun (I just used the missus hairdrier), and it will stretch and bend wherever you want it. Use your fingers to pull it tight and massage it around the curves of the piece. Its really good this stuff, if you screw it up you can just peel it off, heat it up until its flat, and start again.Trim the edges and I ended up with something like this.I found it was easier to remove the bends and bubbles from the front if I trimmed all the way to the edges on the rear rather than leaving an overlap. And reassemble.I think it looks the goods. No plans to do any other trim. I have a luxo pack so I think the darker trim goes with it anyway.Aack in the car. Edited January 27, 201214 yr by TURBOXR

June 29, 201214 yr #5 Just saw this, looks awesome. Think I might buy a heap of it and do the ICC, reckon that would look good or nah? Also the door trims as they start to peel and lump up.Have the standard BA/F one, non-premo sound or anything. Edited June 29, 201214 yr by Ciaran

June 29, 201214 yr #7 Yeah sweet, hope he can post some pics up. Keen on doing as much of the internal plastics as I can, maybe even the side mirrors too (just encase I knock any walls or something with mirror or someone swipes me, can just peel off and replace depending on damage). In my last T I just swiped a wall trying to avoid hitting someone on crutches going down a side alley to work, and carbon fibre would have covered the minor scratches up perfectly!
June 29, 201214 yr #9 Here you go, posted after henz put up pics of him when he did his shifter surround Dooo it!Foon, post 575 Edited June 29, 201214 yr by Shyfrd
June 29, 201214 yr #10 This 3M product is the bomb. I have just done all my dash spears and door handle hockey sticks, and it looks fantastic. As earlier said it really is easy to use once you get some heat on it. I brought 1300mm X 300mm and had a little left over. Just make sure you mark out on the backing tape, and allow a little extra so you can give it a good stretch. Cheers Edited June 29, 201214 yr by Impellor
