You may not have the correct plugs. S is Std and IX is iridium.

Did you set the gap at 0.8 the "ES" gap may be 1.1 to 1.3mm.. I dont think we use a "P" projected electrode either.

Exhaust leak at manifold causes a ticking sound.

Backfiring could be spark blow out. Gap plugs.

plugs I am using are BCPR6ES (NGK). It is a rather loud ticking sound. Is there an easy way to check the bolts for tightness? The top ones are easy but the bottom. hmmmm. How do I tell if it is intake ping or exhaust?

I was afraid you were going to say that...... I don't see how a exhaust leak can cause a ticking?

When all the bolts are loose the manifold/turbo/dump rattle around and cause a tick or knocking noise - definitely worth a check!

Exhaust leak where manifold meets head on any car causes a ticking noise. I don't know the science behind it but it does.

I think u forgot to gap your new plugs to .7mm ....

would this be the case all the time while driving or maybe only when boosting it?? Ive got a ticking noise I guess you'd call it only when boosting
