I realise that is what it's trying to do but my point is it normal to cut in automatically?

I thought it was only done manually !

It should always be on, if you press and hold the button it will be turned off. Restarting the car will turn it back on, so will pressing the button again.

When the light stays on traction is off. You hold the button down for 2 seconds.

The light is flashing wen you boot it as it is trying to regain traction.

Light off- traction control is on

Light stays on- traction control off

Light flashes- traction control is working to keep traction.
