Engine Light

recently ive noticed my xr6t has had the engine light coming up on the dash for a couple of seconds during boost. the car runs a fairly high amount of boost (around 18psi) but the light has been coming on before the boost is at its highest level, maybe even at around 10psi. it doesn't happen all the time either I have probably seen it appear only a handful of times in the time I have been driving it while boosting. im a bit worried its not a nice thing to see the dash flashing lights at you when you give the car a bit haha. has anyone else seen this problem and know of what the cause might be?

Take it back to who tuned it.

so its most likely just a tune issue not a mechanical failure?

could be anything mate, take it to your tuner asap and get them to run it up on the dyno + pull the fault codes.

if I'm correct, on the bf mk 2 the book says, if light appears engine is not working within emission regulation. don't think it will be a engine issue, I say exhaust/cat. mine had fuel regulator stuck open so was running rich, so light came on and stayed on. sure it's the rear o2 sensor that picks it up. sometimes bad petrol can bring it on. could be dumping to much fuel when you boot it. can I ask why so much boost. is the car highly modified? or generic tune?

yeah the car has been tuned to suit the amount of boost its running but that's how I bought it. sometime later this year im looking to do some more modifications to it that will require a retune, and ill be looking to dial down the boost a bit to a more moderate level as no bottom end work has been done to the engine and the last thing I want is to be bending rods. this week or next ill take it to my tuner for a dyno run and see what they have to say

Bit hard to say for certain , but running 18 psi is quite a bit, so I would assume turbo back exhaust mods (cat ).

BA/BF ? possible o2 sensor picking up emission errors. Your tuner is your best bet as already said

Simply use for xcal box and scan for DTC's. I had one the other night where mine came on and stayed on. It was the TRB BST code which I can only assume is over boost - it was a cold night; im contacting my tuner to see what the light was set at...

its a ba mk 2. the problem was fairly intermittent before but I hadn't had the car for a couple of weeks due to getting a new malwood option 4 clutch fitted. now it happens 90% of the time when boosting. ill have to take it in to get looked at soon just need to save up a bit more cash the clutch wasn't cheap :P im from townsville does anyone know of any good tuners here?
