Ill be interested to hear from anyone that has recently traded in their ba/bf turbo for an upgrade.

ive currently got a 2004 ba turbo 100,000 kays stock apart from king springs and rims. im looking around at the moment for an upgrade either to an fg turbo or a BF FPV of somesort. So the cars im looking at will be around 32 grand mark.

wondering if anyones traded in there ba for an fg (or anything of similar value) what sort of cash difference they have paid??

in my eyes my car is worth around the 18 grand mark so id like to pay around the 13 grand mark for an upgrade. but I assume a dealer will try for around 20.

Any help appreciated, cheers.

Is it a MkI or a MkII? If it's a MkI, you'll probably only get around the $10-12K mark. If it's MkII then probably somewhere around $11-14K for trade in.

If you sell it privately you'll be more likely to get closer to your $18K figure. Your never gonna get that from a dealer though.

I traded my ba1, 80000kms, 2nd owner 12 months ago for 15500. But it was probably realistically 13500 when you adjust it.

I got a trade in price for my last car and nearly fell over.

Decided to sell it privately for a heavily discounted price. I'd rather give a stranger a great deal on a car than have a dealer rip me off.

You will never get a great deal for a tradein from a dealer, as they neet to warrant the car and pay GST on it when it is sold.

I would think that $10-14k is about on the money. Mods only devalue a car in the eyes of a dealer at tradin time.

The yard had late model FG turbo there for $34000.oo its to much to lose, sell it private or mod it ,,,,.

If you must "trade" it makesure you negotiate a complete changeover price.

Gives you more control and makes the dealer work harder

ie the bigger the trade the less they will move on the new car.

Do your sums , research and know your walk away position

thanks for the replys. yeah I knew it would be less I just wasnt sure how much.

my car is forsale privatly so that's the first plan. Only problem is that if I sell it I need to buy a new car almost straight away and I dont like rushing into buying things.

might have to look at financing the new car are paying a big chunk of the loan off after I sell the ba.
