After owning the BF F6 for 3 years & driving quite a few FG F6s & XR6Ts with decent power I can comfortably say the FG destroys the BF in every single way & is just so smooth. But I wouldn't swap my BF F6 for an FG XR6T with the same mods, it would have to be an FG F6.

I was in a similar position this year except throw in a VE SS so I had three to choose from. A really nice low km R spec was for sale locally but to be honest, even in FPV spec, it looked and felt 10 years old compared to the FG. I preferred the look of the VE over both (and still do) and am traditionally more aligned with Holden (still have nightmares about AU Falcons - as do most at Ford). In saying that, after stepping straight out of a spanker VE SS with its tractor gearbox and into an FG XR6T auto, it was a no brainer. So yes, I was converted. I love my FG and now tuned, it will pretty much hose anything Expensive Daewoo and HSV will throw at it and for under 45k, ya gotta love that!

I absolutely agree with you on the FG F6. If I had extra coin, that's what I'd be buying. Cheers, Bomber.

If I can pick up something like this for about 45k it would be a good buy. New FG + aftermarket wheels and upgraded brakes would push me to around this price anyway

if you like that, down here in melb and carsales, there is a 2009 fgf6 ute for 45grand. only 14000ks and has every option. just don't like the racoon eyes, think it would look better painted white those black bits.

valid point pharkit, turbo mods are required on the fg to go beyond 320rwkws althought there have been a couple of examples pull 350rwkws. I wouldnt let that be a deciding factor in choosing a vehicle. if an au came standard with a gt42 would you buy that instead of the bf? 320rwkws is off the hook in an fg. I dont see the need for any more on the street. lag is minimal compared to a 35/40 but yeah srk, if you want 350-360rwkws the bf has a big enough turbo straight up to take you there.

Spot on. A lot seem hung up on power figures but forget driveability. An FG gets to a point that with stock rubber, you're wasting your time on the street. Mine has only 270rwkw and I've rotated rubber twice - at 6000km! And that's traction control on with a 43yo old fart driving it. If you want a dyno mule then buy the BF. If you want a car that that drives nice and doesn't feel 10yo by comparison, buy the FG.

I use to think Phoon but the FG is a much better car, if you can get a fully optioned FG for the same price then your laughing.

The main differences is the brakes and turbo, IMO the difference in brakes is very noticeable but having said that the FG's don't really seem bad enough to concern me. As with turbo yeah you will have to spend minimum 2.5k to upgrade it if you want over 340 where as you don't with the BF that's just fact take it or leave it. The FG feels like alot quicker car but I don't know if it actually is or not, oh and don't forget BF's just ran out of warranty too which is a biggy for some people.

If it was between them too for around 35k I'd take the FG, the harder choice I think is between a fully optioned MK2 BF (which is basically a phoon without the bodykit or brembo's) for 25k or an un optioned FG for 35k, as we all know if you spent the 10k difference on the BF it would wipe the floor with the FG.

A cheap option - buy an FG " Chaser" - Get the Brakes etc.

Spend a grand on a tune and you have a " Typhoon"

You do not get the nice seats or sound but you get a fast car that can stop
