December 1, 201015 yr #1 Hi guys that's right im having more problems with my ba.Last week I had an issue with my doors locking and then unlocking themselves.I took ppls advise and d/c each plus to see with actuator was at fault and the right hand rear was no good so therefor replaced that with my mates actuator and that was well. Suprisingly the faulty one that came out of my car worked in his too?? God if I know why!!!Well anyway, today I had another door actuator issue. This time I d/c all plugs to the actutor to see which door was at fault and this time it turned out to be the drivers door so same procedure again. Swapped actuators with my mates but this time his one didnt work when fitted in mine. So what we did was took my drivers side actuator and fitted it in his car and it worked?? This really got us puzzled so we tried one last time and took my actuator out of my mates car and fiited in my car but issue was still there.....We are absolutely puzzled and are starting to think it could be an electrical issue? Any help would be great. thanks..
December 1, 201015 yr #2 I have seen problems with the wiring to the front doors on these. Some have had broken wires and others it has been the connectors playing up so I would start there.Ian
December 1, 201015 yr #3 This one sounds like a pain in the ass. Have you tried removing the door lock button(up and down button) from the drivers door. This was always a pain on the older E series cars where if the plastic top cap/bung was on to far down the thread it would just keep locking and unlocking as it was hitting the inside of the door runner!
December 1, 201015 yr #4 Author Yes I did remove the screw on lock and that had no effect.Goldie: It seems like an electrical issue as u say and as a result dropped off my car to my local auto elec to have a look and see what he can find...Will post results when I pick up my car later on..
December 2, 201015 yr #5 Author ok guys, got a call from the auto elec and was told it has a faulty BCM. It currently getting replaced and will let u guys know how it goes...
December 2, 201015 yr #6 Author picked the car up and it ended up being a faulty bem so we thought. It worked well for a few hours and then soon after it started playing up again. Im at the stage where im starting to find it funny but meh, ill just call the auto elec first thing in the morning and let him know that his fix was short lived..I noticed there was some water leaking on the front passenger side. Dont know it that has something do with telling the bem to unlock perhaps??
December 2, 201015 yr #7 I think is water shorting something. I have had the same issue with drivers side door after it rains. Hasn't happened recently though for some unknown reason. I am pretty sure it's a short when wet. Does your interior lamp in the centre stay on when the car won't lock (you obviously need to set it to Door setting)? I found when I drove over speed bumps the lamp would either come on or go off in sync with issue. In fact I found it once allowed me to lock my doors by driving over a speed bump But like I said - has not happened recently.
December 2, 201015 yr #8 Author Hi evildaifu, kinda sound I have a similar issue to you? Can I ask how do I set it to door setting?anyway,,,,,a new discovery...When I have the keyed turned to ON and lock the car while sitting inside it locks. However if I then turn the car to OFF then it automatically unlocks itself? It also unlocks when I start the car?I know its a tuff one but its a good problem solver you u auto elecs out there.
December 2, 201015 yr #9 Ouch! I bet the BEM wasn't cheap. It sounds like the auto elec is guessing. That could end up being an expensive exercise.
December 2, 201015 yr #10 Author lol @ auto elec guessing..Adam Ford quoted me $470 for the BEM but I picked one up for $120 from my local Ford wreckers.
