Ok guys....

in the next 12 months or so I wanna get a british bulldog pup.... and I have been looking on the net at some info and prices etc...

they seem pretty steep like 3k for a pup.... and I havent really found any in SA....

so was wondering two things before I go any further... for anyone who might know... how much should I be paying...

and are there many pro's or cons to the breed I may need to know about (have read on the net some, but better to hear from owners themselves)....

if anyone could tell me some info would be much appreciated.

SHPANKS :rolleyes::innocent:

I haven't personally owned one but a friend of mine had a pure breed $2k from memory and only prob he had with his male was breathing difficulty.

Here is a website I found a while ago when investigating the difference between my staffy and bull terrier- English Bulldog. Information about the breed.

What about a staffie? they are tuff little nuggets, look like a bulldog, very strong and a hell of a lot cheaper

Getting a bulldog from the pound is hard work if it has been abused and if you dont know what you are doing you are probly putting yourself and the people around you in danger.the abusive owners should be put down IMO

Let us know what you end up doing :beerchug:

If you want a fairly unusual breed of dog (ie not a staffy, maltese x, lab, sheperd etc etc) then you wont get much change out of 2 or 3K.

Plenty of my customers have paid 2-4K for species like Great Danes, Bernese and British Bulldogs.

Dogs are fairly simple things really. Feed them good food (stay away from Pedigree / chum etc), keep em well exercised and socialise them early and you'll have a happy dog

Apparently my wife tells me there are some up this way (central qld) for between the $400 - $1000 mark. Maybe do a search on the net around this area.

For that sort of money they defintely wont be from registered breeders with papers. That said, I personally think papers / pure breds are a load of wank for a family pet :)

My Shepard has papers etc but not once has that ever been of benefit. I looked far and wide for months (14 actually!) to find the right dog and he just happened to be a pure bred.
