"Why limit a top level sport, all you do is take away the inovation and creativity of the engineers. "

Exactly. That is the reason why the manafactuers should leave the sport. What benefits them in its current form? Nothing...

Super GT R35s would be awesome to see.

Nismo, the motorsport arm of Nissan, will be entering the Nissan GT-R in the Super GT race series in the GT500 class for the 2008 season, replacing the Nissan 350Z.

Unlike the production car, the GT500 version has a completely different drivetrain. The race car has a 4.5 litre naturally-aspirated V8 with 6 speed sequential manual gearbox and a RWD layout from its predecessor, the 350Z race car.

Guys I have been a motorsport fan for 40 years. Remember watching Bob Jane drive around Bathurst against Mini Cooper S and the like. Saw Dicky Johnson hit the wall AND the rock and then cry about it. Saw Brocky in the Hatch Torana and Moffat in the XC run 1 and 2.

I personally hated when Walkinshaw bought the Jags over and disliked it more when Richards and Skaife won Bathurst in Godzilla (hated Skaife ever since)

I have followed the British Touring Cards closely and that is now boring I have to say. F1 has lost sight of what it is there for - spectators.

However, if you look back 20 or so years to the gentlemanly way they used to pottered around, you have rocks in your head if you say its boring. The level of biffo at the moment makes for good viewing although that has dropped off of late.

As mentioned it isn't about selling cars anymore as, except for outside shell, the cars are regulated to be the same. Just have to look at the chassis set up.

But if you want production cars really, ask yourself why you didn't sit and watch the Bathurst 12 hour recently?????

In my view, for what its worth, it does need an overhaul. In a few years there will be no Ford, no Falcon as we know it so we may lose another Australia institution.

But if you REALLY think the class is dead ask yourself this. If you are a Ford fan and some one says Ford are crap, why do you argue with them otherwise? For that, my friends, is the basis of the current setup of V8 supercarts. that's why we pissed off the group As and the Sierras, and the Jags. In whatever guise, it is Ford V Holden. Always was, always will be. Argue all you like. But when Tander blows and engine, if your a Ford fan, don't you dare tell me you don't smile.

I would personally love to see a mostly stock AMG or M3 turn up and flog the crap out of the 'supercars'...

:icon_ford:

They're awesome cars in their own right, but they wouldn't stand a chance against a V8SC on a track.

I used to love the Sports sedans. There was a Viper and some silly ass put a V12 or some such in an Alfa. The sound of the Diff whine was incredible.

M3s a good car but give it 4 maybe 5 good brake applications and off she'd go I'mm afraid.

Merc have pulled the pin. It was in yesterdays telegraph. Nissan and Toyota are showing interest

The V8SCs have no relation to any cars that are actually sold.

So, I don't see why any manufacturer can't join in. I would be happy to support the V8 Kia or Skoda.

The forth coming changes to the rules will state that you dont need manufacturer support to build a car from a particular manufacturer. Even if Mercedes do not show their factory support you can still run the car. Anything will be possible.
