05/03/10 07:14 AM05/03/10 07:14 AM #1 well I have started to do more mods to my fg ute.I have just ordered a new intercooler from Rapid, bosch ev14 injectors, and a 100cpi cat. this will go along with my xr8 intake and k-n filter. which may change to a custom air box.with these mods I hope to well and truly max out the little turbo and have a very responsive street car. and see what times an fg with the standard turbo can put down the qtr mile at its max.I am told there in no need to do the exhaust as it flows plenty enough for the little turbo. cant wait!!!!would like to thank chris from rapid. he is a top bloke and would recomend his to anyone who is modifying their falcon turboscheers Edited 10/03/10 04:38 AM10/03/10 04:38 AM by revheadrobbo
07/03/10 07:28 AM07/03/10 07:28 AM #2 Author I got some time off this arvo and I took off the front bumper (which was easier than I thought) then took to the intercooler pipes and finally the cooler. hoping to have the new cooler by this coming week sometime. here are some pics of the progress so far. btw I cant beleive that the standard cooler pipes held upto the 15psi I was running through them. the hot side pipe connecting to the cooler is so thin. look at the pic, I can crush it with my fingers to the point I can touch fingers through the pipe. . bumper offvery brittle pipeall off Edited 07/03/10 07:31 AM07/03/10 07:31 AM by Boosted1

They've been basically just bursting open with a bit more boost pushed through them...my theory is Ford have intentionally engineered a weakness in there just to be sh*tful!
07/03/10 01:47 PM07/03/10 01:47 PM #7 Mine were exactly the same in that spot. I now have a Plazmaman pipe kit fitted for peace of mind.Running 15psi through them you must have a tune??How much power were you getting with that tune?
07/03/10 07:39 PM07/03/10 07:39 PM #8 Author yeah def a good idea changing the pipe. I think ford have done it as a fail safe, so we dont go to crazy with boost on the standard pipes. they are just way to thin. as for my previous tune. I had 275rwkw. b the tune was for 13.5 si but would spike to 15psi through changes in gears
10/03/10 02:40 AM10/03/10 02:40 AM #9 Keep us posted on progress.I have a stock FG Sedan XR6T (work car) & looking to do minor mods - Intercooler, Tune, Injectors as it's an everyday car.More pic's as your go would be great !
10/03/10 04:35 AM10/03/10 04:35 AM #10 Looks like a farking bike tube that you are squeezing!Mate has a new FG Turbo also with PW stage 2 with 4in intake, 60lb injectors and cat replaced and managed about 318rwkw. Tuner believe's the exhaust is the restriction as the big intake was only good for about 5kw at that stage over the standard intake. We are up North in the tropics.
