I made a claim last year on my modded xr6t when a motor bike hit me at a t-intersection. It cost my insurance company like $14,000 to fix mine (Both left side doors replaced, sub frame, new boot and spoiler.) When the car got assesed they didn't even look/ask about mods let alone say anything about my rims, which weren't noted on my policy at the time. I also have the Rapid v3 kit and nothing was said.

I reckon the best way is tell the insurance company what mods you can obviously see (FMIC, Rims, etc) and leave out tune (just flash it back to factory if u prang), valve springs, etc.

who are you insured with?

Insurance companies cannot deny a claim based on modifications as long as it is roadworthy. In saying that though your pink slip should be enough proof that it is roadworthy. They can however reduce a claim based on the fact that you didnt disclose such mods at the time of insurance. This means that an extra excess or an increased premium can be applied to your claim if they realise which is what you would have had to pay anyway if you had told them originally. Assessors are more intent in finding out if you were breaking the law at the time. Speeding, unlicensed, ANY amount of alcohol, etc, will give them grounds to deny a claim. As long as you have not gone way over the top with mods it is very unusual for them to notice. I have heard that you cannot go up more than 2 inches on your factory rim sizes to be insured also...

Mines about to be asessed by insurance in the next day or so.

Would it be a good idea to go into the smash repairs when it gets there and flash in the valet tune?

I will explain why to the panel beaters.

TIO in Darwin....cheap premium too I pay about $1000 p/a, which isn't too bad for a 23 year old with a turbo car.

Well, its at the assessment centre right now, but ive no idea whether they have the resources there to fix cars.. I assumed they they contracted outwards to private smash repair places, but we will see.
