Had this question for a yr now so bout time to ask... The boot really slams down unless I lower it really close, this is pain in the arse when your hands are full (carrying the bowls and cardigan). An when I say slam it really comes down. Is this the same for everyone? Looking at the hinge design I can see why, there is gas struts but they seem to do f*ck all. My old car didn't suffer this, it did however have sh*tty hinges that cut into the boot space... Is this too much to ask that the G6E shuts in a nice orderly fashion?

Same thing happens with my BA, really boils my blood when the mrs and anyone else just lets the boot lid "drop".

I've been looking into changing the struts to a different valved unit. I have found these and they are adjustable but haven't really looked for a supplier in AUS.

Gas Struts for car boots, access hatches, machine guards etc.

The only other thing that concerns me with using higher pressure struts is how the mounts will hold up to the extra force applied to them.

Cheers,

Ben

There is a guy on ebay. Not sure if available for the newer cars though! Haven't looked. The strut guy or something like that

yeah it sounds like a small thing the boot slamming, but the other day I scratched the boot trying to catch it with hands full of shopping and my keys!! got the sh*ts. I'm going to find a solution! So by the sounds of it your saying the struts that are there are ineffective?

The link supplied sounds the ticket being adjustable, however them being in the UK... my old friend ebay may be the answer, will report back with my findings...

I would of thought that you struts were bugger and just need replacing. No car boot should slam hard.

The weight of the boot doesn't help, I don't know how many different boots most of you guys have used on different makes and models, but ours are REALLY heavy!

The FPV spoilers aren't lightweight either; it adds up fast and its no wonder they can barely hold the boot open let alone slow it down when lowering or closing it LOL!

I find the basic Falcon a bit better, with the lighter boot lid, but even then it's not quite enough - sadly.
