January 21, 201016 yr #1 Hi GuysI would like to retrim my car in white leather. While brousing ebay I came accross this Ebay linkI was wondering if aonyone has done this or something similar. Does it really look as good as in the pics? The whole thing seems a bit too good to be true, or am I missing something?ThanksJim
January 21, 201016 yr #2 Is this Pro Seat? the link didn't work for me.I was just about to post a topic on Pro Seat retrims. Been talking with a few people that have used Pro Seat and feed back is positive. He uses a product called ReBorn Leather. Reborn leather is a by product made from genuine leather. We import the material from Germany in bulk. There is a lot of wastage during leather creation process, these extra bits are collected and reprocessed to make a continuous roll of top layer material, reborn leather in roll which is another reason for affordability. They add foam backing to reborn leather to increase the comfort and durability.Reborn leather is UV resistant which means minimal service.Their factory is down in hoppers crossing and I am going down to take a look at their displays, they said that Reborn leather is real leather, looks like leather and feels like leather. It basically sounds like all the off cuts and stuff from the normal leather process gets collected and processes to make a roll of leather.hope this healps a bit, I will post up some feedback after I have looked at the products.
January 21, 201016 yr #3 Author Yeah the link isnt working. It is Proseat, www.proseat.com.au so far its sounding pretty good. Very tempted to get a set.
January 21, 201016 yr #4 All the photos I have seen look great, but still want to see it all in the flesh first. I am going for a slight custom job, and getting everything trimmed seats, doors, consol lid and gear boot. This is not the best colour choice but give you a idea of how it fits to the seats.
January 22, 201016 yr #5 Author I was quoted $689 for the full retrim, including front and rear seats, all 4 door trims, hand break, centre console and postage. This was for white perferated leather with double stiching in blue. Ideally Id also like to see it first but that impossible due to me being stuck at a mine atm. Let me know what you think of it when you see it.Thanks
January 22, 201016 yr #6 Yea no worries I am going to check it out Monday. Gee your game going with a white interior, be a pain to keep clean. Will post here what I think when I see them.
January 22, 201016 yr #7 I was quoted $689 for the full retrim,That's dirt cheap....collected and reprocessed to make a continuous roll of top layer material, WTF..what do they do...feed it back to the cow....
January 22, 201016 yr #8 I will find out exactly Monday, but by the sounds of it there is material left after processing a batch of 'genuine leather' and this is collected and reprocessed to create this reborn leather. It is a cheap solution and looks and feels very good from what I have seen. I have seen it in a few audi's and euro cars and looks perfect.
January 22, 201016 yr #9 I would be worried about it holding it's shape without it being stiched, glued and stapled in.How is it going to look in twelve months? mmm Edited January 22, 201016 yr by XR09
January 22, 201016 yr #10 guys when you buy geniune leather...its in hide form...not on a roll....Its the shape of the cow or what ever other animal its been taken from. All the stuff you buy on a roll....isn't real leather...it can't be...They call it man made leather..that's a farken cheap cheap price ...as the average retrim would require numerous hides...You couldn't buy the cow hides only for that price..Imo cow hide would cost well over the $1000 mark. if not pushing almost double that...Ask some more questions please..........as I have seen some cheap products wear away within months...PM if you need some help or advice...
