Hey guys first time post as I only just joined, I put a deposit on this car last week and I just wanted some informed opinions as to whether its an alright deal and whether the T5 will be ok if I dont want to use it as a 1/4 car. Just a nice street car with an eventual mild tune to the mid 200rwkw range.

Also wondering a good place in Melbourne to get a pre-purchase check done (was thinking about RACV?)

5 speeds are very weak and break quite easily once tuned. a 6 speed upgrade is possible but it would be cheaper to purchase a 6 spped initialy.

I think someone rated the T5 to only around 210-220rwkw. Its a weak box man, a good fang and you could be saying bye bye...

5 speed should be alright, maybe.. I dunno.. but if it does give you issues, just put an FG box in!

Guys, I have a BA XR6T 5 spd manual with an edit and stage 1 injectors (rwkw 284) and have had no problems. The car has done 100,000ks been on race track days, drag days and to Qld 5 times. Clutch is starting to go. My only issue has been a steady idle. Driven with common sense you should have no issues.
