heres not a bad read on batteries. agm might not be a bad idea especially for those mounting batteries in boots or confined areas. They are abit more exy but will pay for itsself in longevity & the extra benefits you get out of them. When mine eventually dies I'll be looking at this option. Ive just started looking into these for our line of work in the marine business. Will be good because it can be used as a primary starter battery but used with the vast amount accessories that get fitted to boats these days. Those with big stereo's that like to play them with the car off could benefit from these batteries.

I'm a fan of the optima dry-cell, colour-top batteries myself. I never got the differences between red, blue and yellow top, but supposedly yellow-top are better as deep-cycle batteries for high current draw ... I.e. they deliver a more consistent voltage as they discharge, but have lower cranking amps (so not so good in older non fuel injected cars). Be ready for a shock though, good batteries ain't cheap!

+ 1 for optima. I'm soon going to relocate my main battery to the tray of my ute and add a second to run my amplifiers, and any accessories (ie fridge)... Its going to be a optima yellow top for this purpose

Dry cell, or normal depends on the budget or just what you see as value for money...

My battery died after 13 months.. POS...

Whacked in a Supercharge or SuperCrank or maybe Superstart - cant remember... something like one of those... 1/4 the cost of the FORD Motorcraft (from memory), and a 150+ higher crank (cent remember exactly what think its about 700cca or something)...

Havent had a single cough or flinch from it yet, and 3 yr replacement warranty.. and its an Aussie battery, and Aussie Company... So happy so far!

Have had a Dry Cell Optima in the past and well - great battery, but this time didnt see the value in the extra $$$...

Make sure you turn it over once every few months Robbo ... my bro tells me these dry-cells are very prone to "dying" if you don't ...
