Ford Servicing

Ive got a BF Mk II XR6 which has just gone in for its 60k service on monday.. I had asked for a spare key to be cut aswell.. Now when I went to pick my vehicle up, I was told that it was not ready due to the ford system going down & because of this they were not able to program my new key.. when I asked if I could just pick my key up later, they told me that the car would start, however would instantly stall..

Now to me, this sounds as if they are pulling my chain & have f*cked something entirely different with the car.. If anyone has any information regarding this area, please fill me in cause I have been without my car for 4 days & it is becoming annoying..

Thanks!

Yes it sounds a bit suss.

The car is programmed to the key(s), not the other way around. So there is something not right there.

Something dodgy....

It doesnt take four days to service a car and program a key. The "system is down" excuse is crap. Even if it was, it wouldnt take four days to get back online. I'd say that the apprentice has test driven your car, flogged the crap out of it, caused the stalling problem, now they are freaking out trying to fix it.

That could be a slight assumption, but not all that unrealistic..

Speaking to my dealer yesturday he told me also that the dealer communication network was down with Ford and had been for at least a week and a half. Apparently they have to email one person all their requests and guess what this is causing major delays in getting warranty work done and obviosly now getting keys. It pissed me of as well as I had to wait over 2 weeks to get the dreaded FG timing case oil leak fixed. Hope all goes well mate cause I do think there is some truth in what they are telling you.

yeh im a lil worried about some idiot flogging it as there was a nice fresh set of marks out the back of their workshop.. I understand the system may be down but as "tab" stated the car is programmed to the key not the other way around

I've also been told of a multi week delay in getting a replacement fuel tank under warranty over in WA here.

I've noticed the fuel consumption numbers are quite a bit bigger after servicing at Ford though...hence I don't service at Ford now, they'll only see it for warranty work. Hope your car is sorted soon mate, hope you don't use it for work like I do!

I got a new tailshaft under warranty this week no probs. They ordered it Thursday last week, installed today. Still didnt fix my vibration problems....

The lack of a programmed extra key doesnt explain its stalling problems.

4 Days for a service??? Something totaly not right! I hope you have the managers number on speed dial. That is not on and they need to let you know what is going on! Ok if they have stuffed up. So be it. But at least have the curteosy to let you know and not fob you off!

WRONG WRONG WRONG

My rant! LOL. Good luck. I hope they have supplied you with a car!

I to was going to get a spare key cut from Ford until I found out about the price, Ford will tell you anything to get a sale.

The key this, the key that :beerchug::blaah::blaah: "don't go anywhere but ford because the programs in the key and no one has the program except ford".

BULLsh*t

Went to old mate at the shopping center (mister minute) and for a $100 cheaper I got a key cut. I have used that key for a month now and nothing has gone wrong with the car. Hope everything works out for ya mate. Well that's my bitch for the week, wheres me beer gone

this is why I should steer clear of threads like this...

ok first thing. if you go to program keys and the IDS freezes or anything during it, the keys are both erased.. thus they will start the car but as soon as the bem tries to get the security code from the ignition barrel the code supplied is wrong (cos key isnt trained to car) and the car stalls.

why they can't program them I dont know, DCC has nothing to do with programming keys.

maybe their IDS is broken and they are trying to get a new one asap. maybe they wiped the PCM while trying to do a reflash... its very easy to do it the cord for the IDS is a little bit iffy and such...

the whole "some apprentice must have thrashed it" excuse is by far my favourite.

at my dealership apprentices arent even allowed to road test the cars. infact even qualified techs arent allowed to if they are under 25.

oh and "stink" I bet if you took your original key off your keychain and tried starting the car with the new key it wont work.

there is an immobiliser in these cars for a reason man.

unless its a pre smartlock car...
