Cheers to dad for having the special vice grip pliers though, the nut would NOT budge. Tight as a nuns...Watch out you don't round the nuts!

Better try using the correct spanners first but if that fails then resort the vice grips, which I had to do as the last monkey who replaced mine threaded the nut on the output side! Nip up the new one and just test by priming the pump a few times to get pressure, check for a leak and just keep nipping it tighter until it doesn't leak. Edited 15/09/09 09:49 AM by bjc

The correct size spanners still started rounding the nuts, they were stupidly tight.A better tip might be WD-40 on the nuts, let it sit a couple mins and try again. The self tightening grips actually got stuck ON and were a bitch to remove. Good thing I let the old man do it hahaha! Edited 15/09/09 10:57 AM by -SteveR-
