NSW police will not issue on the spot fines for a week after wage negotiations with the state government broke down.

The NSW Police Association said it was forced to take the action after the government failed to follow an Industrial Relations Commission recommendation to resume wage negotiation by 4pm (AEST) on Wednesday.

Association president Bob Pritchard said police would "exercise their discretion" and not issue on the spot fines for traffic, parking, rail and boating infringements.

Instead, offenders will be issued with warnings for minor offences or court attendance notices for serious matters.

The fine-free week begins at 6pm on Wednesday and will run until 6pm on Tuesday, July 15.

"At no time will the community be at risk," Mr Pritchard told reporters.

"We are there to protect the community.

"We expect the government to deal with us in good faith as police have looked after them and committed themselves to the community."

Mr Pritchard said the association had provided the government with a detailed plan on how it could save almost $200 million a year while improving policing.

The Government offered a 3% payrise across the board which equates to about a $40 per week payrise for the average police officer, and said that if anymore was wanted the police would have to give up conditions those on the agender are 12 hour shifts and death and dissability payments, 12 hour shifts are a blessing but are not the big issue what is is the death and dissability scheme it would mean that if an officer was hurt in the course of there duties they would receive 2 years pay and a pat on the back thanks go and join the job cue with our simpathy. Nice!!!

This is just the start of the rolling action that will take place and it does need to be advertised just wait untill work to rule comences then there will be some real changes. Just imagine if those people that fought in military action were given 2 years pay and then cut loose after they are injured to the extent that they couldnt do meaningful work and were pushed out onto the street in a dribbling mess in there wheel chairs, because this is what they want for the police force, no matter what you think of the police this sought of thing is an unasseptable way of treaing those whose job it is to protect you.

The effect would be that the front line police would be a whole lot less willing to put themselves at risk to protect others and this is a situation we do not need. :secret:

This is not a reward it is a sceme and police pay into it out of there own wages as a percentage and it is topped up by the government police do not get a pension for doing 20 years your friend gets more than any police officer does already. Although this idea has been floated for the poice, fire and ambulance services but as yet has not been successful.
