Toyo R1r, Bridgestone Re-01r, Or Falken Rt-615?

I'm thinking about what tyres to get for my BA XR6T and the Toyo R1R, Bridgestone RE-01R, and Falken RT-615 are at the top of the list, looking at a direct replacment for my OEM Dunlops SP Sport 3000 possibily to standard specs 245/45/17 or maybe even to 255/40/17's....

Would like to get your guys input on these tyres and how they compare to eachother. Running approx 350rwkw's through a 4 speed auto and 2500rpm stallie.

BTW, I was quoted $240 a tyre for the R1R from Tyre Power @ Resevoir which I thought was a relatively good price?

I have heard very good things about R1R's recently.

From word of mouth I believe the Potenza's are the best all round tyre there, but wont be worth the 100% higher pricetag they will most likely come with

Any of those 3 will be way better than the stock tyres for cornering ect... dont expect them to hold 350wkws though, 245 is pretty narrow for high powered cars

What about 255's Chris? I know Toyos make them in that size or the 275's which I dont think will be a good idea to run everyday on my 8" OEM wheels.

I was running the 245/45/17 RT615's on my BFII...

Great tyre, but still struggled to hold 325rwkw with decent torque..... They can be had for $250ea in 17's... I'd have them on my 18" now, but were priced $420+ a corner...

The Kumho KU36's are going for a BARGAIN price at the moment, worth a look.

The only 255 17" tyre that is approved to fit an 8" rim is the Federal RS595's.... All the other tyre manufacturer's recommend 8.5"

Im now running 18" rims, with Kumho KU36 in 245/40/18 which can be had for a bargain price at the moment with 275/35/18 Toyo RA1's at the back... Now they stick like glue

Well, for the best cornering grip stick with 245s if your using a normal street tyre, with a semi slick, 255 should be fine as the sidewalls are alot stronger, so wont roll too badly.

Alot of evo guys run a 255 on the stock rims with good results.

I honestly dont think we'll ever find a street usable tyre to hold the torque that comes with a 350wkws plus falcon, I've had all sorts of rears now and nothing has held the power... they just got better in higher gears, for example a 245 of any type wont hold 3rd, a really good street tyre in 275 may hold in 3rd, but no chance in 1st/2nd, a semi slick in 295 might hold 2nd, but not 1st... the 295 semis I had on the BA wouldnt hold 2nd, and once they had aged and been through a few heat cycles, they wouldnt hold first and secon on the FG when it was stock

Read some positive info on all of the above tyres so it just gets better and better. In saying that, the R1R's seem to be the go atm!

I have the Falken RT615 255/40/17 on my 275rwkw R33 and they are totally crap compared to a Toyo RA1. The RT615 would spin every time in 2nd gear on boost and with colder weather even in 3rd gear. With the RA1, they could hold 2nd gear when warm. Fantastic but pricey
