there is no way Ford will approve a GTHO (high cost low volume) vehicle to be built in the economic state, with the future of GM and Chrystler in doubt and the US gov watching everything they do. it just aint going to happen!

and all the car mags/sites spit this crap out everytime they have nothing else better to talk about... the HO can come back, when it is going to fight for the title of "worlds fastest sports sedan" fighting against a tarted up commadore is not what the legend of the HO is about

Why are we dreaming? None of us on the forum have created this in our head. I’m just sharing what I read in Wheels (July issue). As far as dreaming goes the world would be a very boring and bland place. We would still be living in caves playing with sticks instead of our 6 billion kilowatt CnV tuned XR6 Turbo.

I understand what you are saying about the current economic climate, but the economy and businesses just don’t stop. Australia has also recently proven to be resilient in avoiding a recession (so far). Who knows what Ford Australia will produce in the near future? Facts remains, the new engine is here (in 5.0L 302ci) for the 2010 Mustang in that states. Ford Australia need a new V8 to meet new emissions and fuel consumption standards at some stage next year. The new engine is modular in design and can be built up to a size of 351ci (5.8L). This is all fact not pie in the sky stuff.

Some people just can’t accept change I guess, that things get improved and become better, and their own rides get older. It’s a fact of life. If nothing changed all we would be talking about on forums is Bob’s BA or BF and how he got his new tune with gazillion “theory dyno” kilowatts. I for one prefer to be a “dreamer” and discuss all things including newer, faster and better performing all round models. Yes this also includes the “dream” of the GT-HO returning.

As far as HO being the fastest 4 door in the world. That’s debateable, but even if the HO in 71 really did claim that crown it sure wasn’t because Ford Australia intended it, nor did they build it with that in mind. It was built to win one race, Bathurst! So the new car in no way needs to be the fastest four door in the world to have any cred or be well accepted.

Why bother blowing the 5.0 lower capacity engine? when there is a 5.8 available.

As per my prediction made in June 29th - I wasnt too far off however I still reckon the GT-HOwill be a supercharged 5.8 with more power. (400kw?)

I have two predictions:

IU am predicting that the 5.8 wont be available in time for testing so they will have two series of releases:

Series I Coyote:

5.0 XR8 - 310kw

5.0 GT - 325kw

Then when the Stroker becomes available later down the track:

Series II Coyote:

5.0 XR8 - 325kw

5.8 GT - 365kw

5.8 Supercharged GTHO - 375-400kw

That makes sense...Then further power upgrades further down the track...

Forget the GTHO, there isn't one, neither is there a 5.8 litre version. But FPV's V8's will BLOW HSV away.

FPV trademarked the GS name last year I think. It must be one of the special editions coming out later in the year. On past performance it will probably be another sticker pack.

We can only hope they put the highly efficient Whipple charger on these - phew, will definately be selling the F6 to get me hands on one of these monsters - has to be the 5.8L version though, spinning at (hopefully) 7k rpm.

My mate spoke to one of FPV engineers who mentioned they were working with Eaton, which is no suprise as they do the majority of OE supercharger production ie. Jag R models, GT500, ZR1 etc.

There's no 5.8 litre version, I don't know where Wheels got that from but there's just the 5 litre and that's it. They planned to do a 5.8 litre version when Coyote was in first stages of planning but when gas prices rose high they dropped all other versions and just kept the one, also helped keep costs down considering their financial position.

Some sources say that there may be a power drop because it'll be hard to get 300kw out of a 5 litre v8, but toyota/lexus are doing it with the ISF (311kw) and BMW were getting 300kw out of 5 litres also in the M5 about 10 years ago, so I think 300kw is quite possible.
