Technical Advice Start Point...

I'm sure the mods get sick of closing off threads about whether or not to run BOV's, members answering questions if a tune/retune is required for particular modifications, or what I should check for if I've lost boost all of a sudden, etc etc.

I know there has been a couple of attempts before (How To Do FAQ, and Mods FAQ), but I believe there would be a benefit for all newcomers and current members to have a first point of reference to head to, specifically dealing with technical queries. ie: Joe/Jane Blogg/Doe signs up because they want to install a new cooler and drive it across the Nullarbor.

SO, Should we pen a 'Start Here First' type thread!? Mods thoughts/members thoughts?

The only problem I see with it Dan, is that it will end up like the previous threads - people don't look for it, they just start their own thread and we have to move or merge it...

Fair call, and I know there's never going to be a definitive way to stop people asking the questions that have been asked 72.4 billion times before, but maybe a starting point could narrow down the searching time spent, or even just one link for every question re-asked every four hours.

That would be good. For someone like myself who has little knowledge of cars, and thinks the search function never shows results of EXACTLY what I'm looking for, and post a thread with a question that has been answered in the FAQ, a member can simply link them to it and tell them it's Question 1A or 1B, blah blah blah.

Also, now that we're on this topic, is there a thread about maintaining your turbo cars? Engine maintenance and what you should look out for? (no, I haven't searched yet - will do soon but thought I'd ask anyway, in case I missed a really good thread).

Would it be possible that everytime a new member signs up they automatically get a "Welcome PM" sent to them with those links for questions that are already asked?
