I personally switch them on the second I turn the car on, every time, all the time. It was drilled into me when getting my licence that if more people see my car coming, the less chance of having an accident.

*Purely regarding headlights, not fog/driving lights please, I'd like to keep this one open!*

I used to just leave the lights on auto, but as its no longer working and just staying on all the time, I now just turn them on when it gets dark.

On long trips I tend to have them on, as you said it make it a lot easier to be seen.

Personally, I don't see the point of having your lights on during the day if you've got a bright or white coloured car. Darker coloured cars driving in shadowed areas may be easier to spot with them on, but it depends where you live.

I think if people actually payed attention when driving it wouldn't matter if your headlights were on or not during the day.

My 2c.

Leave it on auto and let the car decide.

Drive with lights on all the time. If I could I would get it set to auto on but I missed that factory option :(

Depends at times and stuff, But I like to leave myne off till it gets dark. Since its a white car and ive gone with the black and white theme the headlights staying off brings out the colour around the headlights ( im talking about the black part), so it looks good imo

I put my parkers on at sunset and headlights on when its dark.

Another way is when the street lights are on, I put my head lights on!!!!

Headlights on all the time as well. Alot of people don't realise the importance of using your headlights during the day.

You will notice the headlights before seeing the car. Why do you think motorbikes have there headlights on all the time, it's a built in feature.

I have Luxeon LED's in my foglights and LEDs in my parkers, so this creates enough light for daylight running lights.

As I drive dark cars, I find people notice me more and will get the hell out of my way when I come up behind them.

If driving on country roads, I will have the full headlights on as there are too many dozy people that would not see me without them.
