Fg Battery Died

Had surgery and could not drive during recovery

Three weeks later tried to start.

Poor old Exide had died.

Now my question is whether a Optima Yellow Top will fit in factory location, does anyone have the dimensions of the stock battery? It's an Exide PA460E from memory. I cant go out and measure it as I am still not fit enough.

Surly enough I only need to put it in the factory location to start it and drive it to the Car Audio shop to relocate it then to the boot to make way for my Custom CAI..

I was going to do it just before surgery but ran out of time.

Thanks for input guys.

If you're just going to get it to the audio shop for work why not just jump start your dead battery to get it there?

battery is not operational at all

or maybe I should buy a battery temporary and relocate it to the other side when I get the CAI kit.

Anyone know what the nizpro reloc kit is worth and which battery it uses?

It doesn't matter if the battery is dead.

If you jump start it the alternator does all the work when the car is running.

Just don't turn it off until you get to the audio shop.

Or trickle charge it for a good 12-24hours

:oohwoah: and :spoton:

Either jump start, or trickle charge... however if it is actually a 'dead cell' - totally stuffed then you may be in trouble...

trickle charge would not work.

RAC came out and completed battery test and it is completely dead. Take back to ford for warranty anyone? hahaha

fair enough to get there but they probably working on other cars and need to bring it in at a later time so need to be able to start it again.

shurly I can replace it with a dry cell that fits in the same battery box(preferably higher cca as im running decent audio gear) which can be relocated later

I went through all this charging nonsense when my drycell died a couple of months ago, and bought a jump starter, which was useful to get it going again and then a trickle charger which was a waste of money because the Drycell was too dead. So I just got another Oddesy and when I bought it the battery guy reckoned for the same money the Optima was a better battery. I have but it was too big for my application, but looking at it from memory the Optima would probably drop straight into the factory battery box.

500 odd $$$$ later; the moral of the story is? Disconnect your battery if your not going to drive the car for a while, because that sneaky little red flashing security light on the dash will kill it.

I`ve got optima red (great battery btw, u probably no) and a holder specially made for them from rocket industries, looks pretty bling, but I`d save yourself the troubles and just leave it alone and concentrate on recovery.
