Yeah mate, I can't imagine they would can the ZF totally - if they were to cut it at all... Maybe they will still keep it in the FPV's, and maybe like one of the Fords, maybe like just in the G6Et, or the XR8 or something, rather then all the models it is currently in...

But its Ford... WHO FARKING KNOWS!!!

Always been a bit of a scrappy business here in Oz... Yet somehow come out with a pretty good all round product at the end of the line...

They already have a 5-speed in the lower spec models Smicky; ZF is standard on XR and above, optional on the others.

The contract with ZF finishes in 2009/2010 and ZF are disappointed with Ford Australia. Apparently they/Ford will be using the 6 speed box they made in the USA (ZF Copy)

ZF even put up the 8 speed to Ford and they declined so Go figure?????????????? :spoton:

Seeing the Inline 6 might now be continued I would hope that Ford Keep the ZF behind at least the high end models But only time will tell.

Yeah I know.... What I mean was- they may go back to using it only in the FPV's, or only one of the XR models.... Or option it on the XR even.

Anyways, F6_Tornado look to have come up with some other info...

You pay extra for the ZF so cost of the box is not and issue. Every one that buys a Falcon with a ZF knows that, so that should not be an issue, cos it's worth every cent! The ZF is one of the reasons the recent cars are so good. Dropping it would be a real shame - glad I've got one. Going local MAY be a way to increase profit margin for Ford and in todays climate that may be the reason. Hope they keep it for the XR and FPV units. WHich makes some sense.

Why are ZF "disappointed with Ford Aust."? Were they hoping Ford would drop the 4 speed and only use the A6?

I thought I recall reading quite a while back that Ford and GM jointly developed the A6 from the USA, I.e. the 6L80E used by Holden?
