Hi everyone

Before anyone says anything, I'm not trying to start an auto Vs. manual debate as theres been a few on here already. Rather, I would like to hear from people who have driven BOTH auto(6) and manual(6) gearbox's, not just little 10 min test drives but decent length.

I ask for your opinions because I am stuck with the choice of the two as I'm looking to buy a BF2 very soon. I used to drive a 6 speed manual and have only have a quick drive of the 6 auto which wasn't enough to get a good feel for it.

I will be looking to modify to low 300rwKw if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance guys/girls :dontknow:

I drive both all the time with work, and in the FG T I like manual and Auto, but in the 8 I like auto only.

BF2 was different though, I have a T56 and when I drive the ZF its nice, and I like the performance off the line. However with a nice clutch the manual is always good fun.

It depends on what you do mostly. City driving and Drag - Auto. Highway driving and twisty stuff - Manual.

I have had both auto and manual and even know I have always loved a manual I will never go back to it. The 6spd auto just feels years ahead in the way it changes gears and delievers the power. Auto all the way for me :dontknow:

that's the same sort of issue im having, I havent done test drives yet (dont want to waste someones time until im 100% ready) but being a manual driver I think the ZF would really have to blow me away to change my mind. Unfortunately the manuals seem to be a bit more expensive too.

Pat, Has sort of got it right ...

I have driven both too and must say that I much prefer manual for all uses as you get a lot more control over the car.

Down the quarter it makes the launch a bit more challenging but I think that you can still get these cars going down the quarter fairly quickly in a manual.

Although the ZF is a fantastic box and gives the car a lot of pull at just about any speed I wish I had a T56 in my car.

The zf will definitely blow you away :innocent:

Why do you say that? From other opinions I've heard they say to go manual if you go for the 8.
