Well it's been 3 weeks almost since the last tablet and I still have not had a ciggie! I can stand with friends who are smoking and not even think about smoking.

Been pissed twice and had no inclination to smoke either, I think I may be cured.

Marcus, despite your fantastic effort, are you really cured ??

My ex father in law has not had a dart in 30 years, yet he still "feels" they go better with beer than peanuts.

He craves one every time he has a few jars. Obviously made of some pretty stern stuff.

That said I'm seeing the doctor this week to score some Tampix, hopefully my periods will stop as well

where do you get this information from?

Hey Spine, the information comes from the MIMs annual which is the reference doctors manual use, or should use to check the severe and mild side effects of all pharmaceutical medications.

All medications have some side effects to some degree or another from mild to severe. For example Penicillan will kill some people very quickly but the vast majority will be cured very quickly, and it has saved possibly 100,000s of lives, and globally the humble Aspirin kills 2000+ people a year. I'm not saying for a moment that there is anything wrong or dangerous about Champix. It was intended for one purpose but happened to have a better effect in altering the Neuro Transmitters associated with physical addiction than the original intended purpose which was depression, it's the same case with Zyban, and if you get a good result from them they are definately better than smoking ciggi's and 1000% more effective than any nicotine replacement therapy such as patches or gum etc.

The thing with smoking is that coming off it or quitting, especially if you have smoked for more than 10 years, is that its similiar to alcoholism. If you go back and have just 1, even in 5 or 10 years time there is a good chance you will be back off the wagon. If Champix works for you and it's not giving you significant physical or psychological side effects, which for the vast majority of people it won't then go for it. But seeing it was developed in 2004 and has only been in the market for just under 2 years, initially in the USA, there are no long term studies. ther are many apparent miracle drugs that become nightmares. Thalidamide was one, and there are many others, but there are also tens of thousands more that do nothing but except what they are intended for. The simple fact is that theres no way of assessing long term results until a pharma has been used in the market for at least 10 years.

I've been on them for 11 days & have cut down to about 8 per day from around 20. Starting to just smoke because it's a habit with the work mates rather than craving them so I'll be chucking them in completely very soon.

Cheers for the thread Envy :spoton: I didn't even know they existed until I read this...

No wuckin furries mate! It really is good being a non smoker. I have not coughed for ages. I can't imagine the pain I would be in coughing with my current rib issue lol

I am on my 9th day and have had no ill side effects what so ever. Dreams are a bit more vivid than usuall, but mine are usually f*cked up normally anyway. The only time I feel a urge to smoke is after dinner time, apart from that cant speak more highly of the sh*t!!

This stuff sounds like the one for me. I've tried a few times and would love to give them the flick.

(warning very very anti smoker here....)

I don't smoke, never have, never will. Around 80% of the people at my current site smoke. They all congregate under the smokers tree (the only place you are allowed to smoke) and have a smoke at least 8 to 10 times a day. 4 or 5 people for 5 to 7 mins 8 to 10 times a day adds up too a shite load of lost manhours! :roflmbo:

My response is to log on to this forum when ever they go for a smoke and spend 5 mins poking around. I don't see why i should be the only stupid phucker working when everybody else is have a nice little break!
