Audio Signal Processors

hey guys,

Nice little audio section here. Just a couple of questions about the ford icc and audio, I know a lot of people do the premium sound upgrade and a few with adding an external head unit to the car but has anyone installed a signal processor? Just to make sure you know what im on about ill add a couple of links from a couple different site so you know what im getting at.

Basically it kind of looks like an amp and hooks up to the OEM audio system and gives you great sound (so they say).

If anyone on here has installed one of these are they worth it, seems like less of a hassle to install these instead of spending $1000+ on all the other equipment like new icc, headunit, amps etc. just to get better sound.

Hey mate,

I have got an AudioControl LC6i, which is also a signal processor. To get better sound out of the factory gear would be to replace it, cause IMO, I have premium sound and its poo.

Cost wise the sound processor would cost more to buy (deoending on which one you got, but by the examples you have shown, fairly pricy) than a descent headunit, stock speakers are poo and would need replacing, you should look into amplifying the speakers to get the most out of them. IMO cant have good sound without BASS so theres more $$. I dont really see a 'cheap' way of gettin good sound, or maybe my expectations are too high..

mr hemi,

Mate, there is a lot of guys and topic's in here about both the Alpine and RF boxes...

Take a little further look around and im sure you will find the answers..

In the short answer to your question... Yes GET A PROCESSOR BOX... if you need one - (ie looking to do other upgrades)!

if you want to upgrade your speakers and add some amps to power them, then definately get the processor box, I recommend the RF, and you can retain stock headunit, but just buying the box is pointless !

I've installed both the RF 360 and the Alpine Imprint systems and to be completely honest, I don't rate either of them. Personally I'd go external H/U. If you are really fussy about your sound then lok for a source unit that has time alignment and good onboard filters.

Also to back up the other guys, to get the most from what you do you really should do speakers, amps, sub etc... even if it is a small sub, just something to add a little bottom end to the music.
