G'day Jeff...

I can see your point. When running a higher boost pressure like you do, the standard cooling philosophy from FORD would be compromised in circumstances like you experience.

Turbo timers provide a bit of additional assistance in preventing premature failure due to adverse operating conditions.

cheers

If youve just come in to the pitts after a few HOT laps and just turn the car off,

Your a fcukhead and dont deserve a T.

Putting around town aint gunna get heat into the turbo like a track day,if you do get it that hot putting around town, your a fcukhead....

Moral of the story,,,, dont be a fcukhead.

One of your best mate!

If you were to shut down a turbo engine after a hard run ,you would find that the oil left in the turbo's galleries and bearings would start to burn leaving a carbon deposit..over time this deposit would centrifuge around the turbo building up resulting in a blockage of the oil galleries thus starving the turbo bearings of oil=turbo bearing failure...allowing a turbo to idle down allow the turbine to slow down and the oil+water+air draws the heat away from the bearings, therefore less chance of coking....excessive idle results in glazing of the bores and increasing of piston blow-by.....in trucks we use the pyrometer to determine when we shut them down

Hi Guys you all do relise that turbo timers are illegal as when you park your car you are supposed to to stop the engine and lock the doors. Insurance may take a dime view on these if your car gets stolen.

Biggy

Ps had a rex for 4 years no timer it had plain bearings ie more suseptable to coking than ball, never had any trouble just drive smart for the last couple of k's or let it idle for a min or so.
