Traction

I was just wondering how other Turbo drivers are going regarding traction.

I have a June build 2007 BF Turbo which is pretty much stock. The only thing I have done at them moment is that im running the 10psi generic tune.

When its dry and I take of with some gusto to get away from pesky Holdens I struggle for traction in first and second. Its really annoying as I feel like I lose a lot of acceleration at this time. Now I know most of you guys on here are running much more power than I am with my 10psi generic tune so traction should be more of an issue for you guys especially. My tyres are stock from when I bought the car. Are they just not good enough? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S In the wet its unbelievably dangerous as you can imagine!!!

Be interested to hear what people have to say about tyres... I took a FG turbo in the rain and it was mental even with traction turned on

I think I have the stock dunlops on the rear and at 260rwkw traction was fine

its not fine now though at 300 but im sure a good set of tyres are good for well over 300

depends on how agressive your tune is down low aswell

with 400+rwkws the right foot is your traction control .275 x18 and they do nothing.even tried 275 slicks still no good.you recon you got trouble.you just needed to go up a size and pick a good soft tyre (EZ)

Semi slicks would be the smart choice.

I had pretty good traction with 242rwkw and the stock dunlops but my nexens are struggling with the power ive got now.

Might be good to try some Marangoni tyres. They seem to be a good cheap option that quite a few people are impressed with. That or go with wider wheels and tyres.

I have 275 on the back and as the tyres where hard with age and basically shagged, I was getting wheel spin in 1st, 2nd and had a few moments when going over the white lines under power.

Just fitted today some 275 30 19's Marangoni Mythos, did a few traction trials and they griped plenty even with the tyre preservatives on the tread, handled my 260kw well.

They are reasonably priced $380 for 19"s, but look a little like truck tyres.

Ive had no experience with this brand (let alone heard of it) but the Federal 595RS semi slicks ive ordered were $368 for 265/35/18's. What sort of compound are yours?
